Optimistic (wink) Hung Treestands Today
#1
A good friend and hunting buddy, Kurt (Q2INWHITETAILS/Team 1) came up last night to do a little more bow shootin and to aid me (be my left leg..lol) in hanging in stands. We loaded up the truck with climbing sticks, screw in steps, and treestands plus tools etc and headed down to my "honey hole". I can get my truck right up to the tree overlooking my food plot so we decided to hang that set first. We needed to be home by 12:30 to clean up cause my gorgeous wife planned a little bbq for a couple of friends. We planned on hanging 2 sets but only got this one set hung before we needed to head home.
This is a great location. I added this food plot to this CRP field only because it was a natural funnel between two wood lots connected by a hedge row. This tree has been great to me. (GREAT)
Don't know if I'll get to use these or not until I get the OK from the Doc and this left leg heals...someone will be in them tho.
Looking from the edge of the woods out into the plot. Just past the clovers is a area of brassicas (rape, turnip and other broadleafs) and then some buckwheat that weeds took over. Beyond that, the green in the background is soybean.

Looking up the tree, we hung (Kurt) two stands here, that's 20' of ladder sticks plus a screw in step and then another 3' section of stick that stands alone. The set is a great filming set overlooking the plot.

Here is a picture from last year (last fall) looking out from this stand. Last year the beans was corn.

Looking up at Q2INWHITETIALS setting the first stand.

And after setting the second stand:

And looking back at the stands from a deers perspective. I know it's open but I have never ever been busted in this stand. It's a great set:

If things go well, here......maybe I'll get to sit in that one and have that same view in a few months.

so your stand is something like 26-30 ft in the air? thats up there but if thats the only option so be it.

That's great Rob, I managed to put up 2 ladder stands myself yesterday. Climbing the ladder was no problem at all, moving slowly, of course. I'm gonna wait a couple weeks before I trial the climber.
