Default 710 Remington??

How dependable are the 710 Remingtons? WIll they hold up. My brother has a 7mm rem mag and it shoots great, I just wonder what problems there may be?

I have shot a couple and they shoot well. The lockup to the barrel with the bolt is a good idea. However I do not like the pressed barrel. For the same money, or less, I would buy the Savage. Or save up for a better rifle. Tom.

My big problem with the 710 is that for what you spend on it, you can spend a little bit more and get a whole lot more gun.

My parents just bought me a Model 710 .243 Win. I have only shot it once and it was pretty accurate. The bolt did lock up on me when I was deer hunting and it really made me mad. I wish my parent would of gotten a better gun, preferably wood stock. But this is what I got and I am gonna have to stick with it. But like I said, I only shot it once so maybe it will get better.

I have one in .270 and it is an ok gun. You get what you pay for. It shoots accurate and works ok. But even after about 120-130 rounds through it the bolt is still clunky feeling, but still tight. Idunno, if I had it to do over again I would have probably saved for another month and bought a bit nicer of a gun (which I ended up doing this year). I am going to give my .270 Remington Model 710 to my son I think. When I bought mine I was needing a good shooting gun and was wanting a scope, what do you know? I found the 710 brand new for $329, about $150 cheaper than the other guns without the scope. Well I got the 710, have shot 2 deer with it in 2 years and it is still shooting fine. I am happy with mine, but like I said, if I had it to do over again I would have just saved up the extra $150-$200 and bought a more quality gun.

Ok. Everyone who talks about a 710 refers to a .270 or .30-06 calibers. How reliable is the .243? Didn't that just come out within the past 2 years?

Why wouldthe 243 Winor any other caliber make the 710 a good rifle?

Well it kills deer so I would guess it would be a good gun right? I don't care about the stock and if it feels like a "toy". Maybe in a year or two it will become the garbage that yall say it is. I do agree it's a cheap gun and do wish I got a better one. Oh well. I got my .30-30 so I am not too too worried. I am not trying to argue so please don't take this offensive.
