Montecs are very good heads. Incredibly sharp and fly like darts. Excellent choice.

I shoot St Epics tipped with 100gr Montecs and blazer vanes. Had a clean pass through on a doe the other night. She went less than 60 yards. The arrow is back in my quiver waiting for the next opportunity. I like that they resharpen well and are one piece. I've had multipiece broadheads shatter on impact. I'd buy them again, and like mobowhuntr said "they fly like darts"

My experience has always been that they are dull as a butter knife out of the package. They can be sharpened, but the way I see it I spend my money on a broadhead to take out of the package and go hunt with it. I don't expect to pay $10 per head then the additional cost of a sharpener, plus my time and aggravation to get it sharp. Spend $22 and get a set of Slick Tricks and be done with it. I guarantee you they are sharp out of the package.

I would definately agree with you on the sharpness of them out of the package. My friend had a bow shop and I returned 2 different packages to him because I could literally run my thumb across the blade and not worry about drawing blood. With that being said, I bought some this year and I wouldn't recommend trying the same thing as the results won't be the same. The reason I stuck with them is they fly like darts and mobowhuntr pointed out.

I would question the Slick Tricks just based on their inventory issues I read about on the forums and posted on their websites.

I would go back to the trusty "ol" Muzzy's if I wasn't shooting Montecs.

Mike from Texas has hit the nail right on the head .I couldn't agree more with what he has told you .I use both head's and the Montec's are a good head,do fly like dart's as mentioned ,but yes they need to be much sharper out of the package . I also use the Slick Trick's and they to have had a bit of a sharpness issue ,butI had a complete passthrough on a bear this fall with thelast season'sversion Slick Trick's .
Both are good head's ,but if it was my choice it would be Slick Trick's all the way.

I would reccomend the monotechs, they are very tough heads. Some production runs were known for not being scaple sharp but the newer ones are very sharp. I like the fact that they are easily re-sharpened when needed. Gosh, to hear some folks it's like the end of the world! [8D]
They also make a teflon coated practice heads in all weights.

To all those here that tried the G5's and dont like them you can send them to me as I have plenty of room in my archery box for them. 85,100 or 125 grains it doesnt matter. Heck, I'll even pay the shipping.
