Default Big 2006 Flint Sale at Cains Outdoor

If anyone is interested, Cains Outdoor in West VA, is having a big 2006 bulk Flint sale this year for Tom Fuller hand knapped black English flints.

Cains is a ML supplier, a big TC and GM dealer, also carries a lot of muzzleloading supplies...has a strong interest in muzzleloading and decided to help the muzzleloading community by coordinating this sale...minimum order of 50 Tom Fuller BEFs at Cains cost plus S&H. (1/2”, 5/8”, 3/4" will be one price...7/8”, 1", 9/8" and higher will be another price).

A really unselfish thing to do for Flintlock shooters and the sport...I ordered a bunch of flints plus restocked ML supplies in the same shipment...talk to Ed or Scott Cain (800) 445-1776...real people to work with, not department store types.

This is such a great opportunity for Flintlock shooters, the Board Administrator might want to "sticky" this at the top for a few months.

That's an interesting store Roundball. $1.35 a piece for the flints is a fair price. I could not find the special you were talking about. Some of the other things they have look pretty good also.

PS: After hours and hours of surfing over the past few weeks, and talking with website administrators all over in the UK and France who have large groups of knowledgable members who specialize in hand knapping various flint objects, the finding is thatTom Fuller is apparently the last remaining outfit that makes "gun flints" using the black English flint...and he's near retirement age...it's a lost art and if that shuts down, expensive French amber flints will be the only remainingalternative.

So with thisrare opportunity of being able to get them at'cost', Iordered a few hundred and won't ever have to worry about having high quality black English flints available the rest of my life.

It would be fascinating to have the opportunity to watch Mr. Fuller knap flints. I would bet he does it so fast and clean that it would boggle my inexperienced mind. I also have been thinging over the same lines as you are. In that when he retires, there will be a very limited supply of them left and those you do find might not be of the same quality...

Be interesting to know how big the operation is...how many knappers are at work...I read somewhere that the average experienced knapper does4 gunflints/minute...that would be acouple hundredan hour...might not be all that many people involved...I'd also like to see the operation first hand
