well guys this moring i was out hunting and at about 7:30 everything had shut down for the day so i thought. at about quater till i began to gather my things and stood up to get my decoy and head home for some much needed sleep. Foolish me i went straight to my decoy and never looked around first. i went to pull it up and for some reason felt i should look behind so i slowly swiveled and in the field about 50 yrds out there was 9 toms out feeding so i slowly went back to my tree. took a few deep breaths after that rush and got out my slate. i yelped id say probably 4 times and then waited. i slowly kinda stretched up and using my binos saw the beast comin straight in so i yelped a little more and he came in full strut up to the fence some 9 yards away. he was dead locked on henrietta the decoy and was really working on a place to cross the fence giving me time to put my call down and get the gun up. i whistled and he let the strut down and whistled again to get his neck up soon as it went up HE went down. 23lbs 9 1/2" beard and 1" spurs his tail feathers from the base to the top of the fan was 16". used a remington 870 exp mag 12ga and federal premier mag shok 3" 1 3/4oz. five shot. he did a whole flip and kicked twice. end of tommyboy. i felt i should share my story and maybe give some advice or at least a laugh at the mistakes of a first year hunter. will post pics when developed and providing i can get them on here.
