Short axle bows.

O.K. I've decided my next bow can only be 33in. max axle to axle and an 80% let off. I want it for everything from turkeys to bear. I am retiring my old bow after this fall. Anyone have any thoughts or recomendations? I also want an extremely quiet bow.

Don't hear about it very often, but give the Diamond Hornet a hard look. Very fast and quiet, very easy to shoot. I love this little bow. For what it's worth, I ditched the 80% let off in favor of 65%, it's much more solid feeling.

You have so many choices! <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have a Martin Panther magnum that is 33&quot;. It's a great bow for the money. Martin also has the new Altitude out that is real short. I've been hearing goood things about it. I actually saw where one guy was shooting spots with it and scoring higher than he ever had before. I've shot the Mathews SQ2 quite a bit, and have been impressed with it.

I think short bows can be vary quite a bit in the department of &quot;feel&quot;. A lot of them have very short grips and some people find their hand does not fit comfortably on it. I highly recommend that you go out and shoot a few to see what you like.

Tons of choices:

Bowtech Tech29, Champion Hurricain, ProLine Mountain 30/32, Diamond Hornet or Stinger, Hoyt HavocTech, Martin Altitude, Mathews SQ2, Parker Ulralite31, PSE Firestorm, etc etc.

LOOK AT THE BOWTECH LINE. THE MIGHTY MITE SHOOTS SWEET AND ITS QUIET WITH LIMB SAVERS ON IT. THE TECH 29 IS ALSO SHORT NEVER SHOT IT , BUT IT LOOKS A LOT LIKE THE MM.

If your set on 33 inches look no furhter than the Bowtec Mighty Mite. If you want even shorter try a Parker UL 31, great shooting bow

I was thinking that the 80% let off would help on the turkeys. I'd like to be able to have it drwn before they get into view. One thing I really liked about the martins was the way the bow felt at full draw. That was a while ago and I can't remember what bow it was that I was looking at but it was before I decided that I needed a Short bow and I'm sure thaat it was over 33in.
Yes there is alot to chose from out there. Short bows seem to be getting more and more popular. I was mostly wanting to hear from those that owned one and could tell me about there bows.
Thanks for all the good info!

notaveg, I have a BowTech Mighty Mite. 31 1/2&quot;. At 55#, 29&quot; draw, and 375 gr arrow I get around 270 fps (it shot 304 at 60# at the factory). It's a very accurate, short bow. Very quiet with limb savers, cat whiskers, and BowTech's thing on the cable guard. It pulls easily and holds very well for a light, short bow. I tried all the hunting stabs and ended up with the 7 1/2&quot; Vibracheck Isolator. The Infinity cam is adjustable for draw length and let off (65-80%).
I picked one up for my bro-law. He had it dressed up at a shop that sells a couple other major lines; their comment was &quot;why don't we sell these bows?&quot;.

i shoot a mighty mite by bow tech. its just over 31&quot;. 27&quot; draw, pulls 70lbs. shooting a beaman hawk ics 500. its shooting 308fps. i shoots groups silver dollar size at 20 yards. baseball size groups at 30 yards. its the smoothest short bow ive ever shot. the dealers are the most helpful people ive dealt with. just try one and you will be hooked.
