Best Elk Hunting Arrow

I shoot a Mathews Switchback 29" draw @68# and I am looking at the best hunting arrow for big game. I have been looking at the Easton ACC, Superslam XX78, and Carbon Evolution? Any suggestions?

I'd choose an ACC 3-60 or a Superslam in 2315 or 2219 (I like the smaller diameter and heavier weight of 2219's), with a 125 gn broadhead.

When it comes to elk hunting I prefer Easton XX-78 2219 with 125-grain muzzy's.

Any arrow over 400 gr. imo is sufficient as long as it is tipped with a solid fixed blade BH and you put it where it belongs.

Personally, I use a 440 gr. arrow going ~265 fps. That set-up has blown through a lot of elk using Muzzy 4-blade or Snuffers.

I don't know if there is a "best elk arrow"- quite a generalized statement I suppose...

I'm opting for ACC's for my elk hunt this year. ACC's are a damn good shaft.

Last year I went with easton xx78 2317's with a 145 grain muzzy four blade out of my Darton Tundra Extreme. But I have a longer draw then you. If a 2219 works with your setup I'd go with that. If it is still too stiff, I'd go with a 2216.

I've been shooting XX75 2413's at 27.25" with 100 grain Muzzy 4 blades for Elk lately. Total weight is 445 grains or so. There have been some great discussions here about KE and speed, and I think I have decided that anywhere between 420 to 450 grains is a good compromise between speed and KE.

I once read an artice by Larry D. Jones on elk hunting and he said in his article
if you keep your arrow weight at or above 450 grains for elk you should be fine
reguarding penetration as long as your arrows arrows are flying straight. Kinda
one of those things you read and remember after a long time. I have found this
to be a good rule of thumb. The Best Elk Arrow is one that fly's straight, and one
that has the momentum/weight to get the job done. -IMHO.

Coelk,
I'm shooting a Mathews SB with a 28 in draw @ 68 lbs.I'm shooting Easton Axis ST with a 100 gr Montec G5'S,and the way they are tearing thru my target with pratice heads gives me no dout that they will penatrate well on a elk.
