Cobra sidewinder ?

Ok guys, I have a cobra sidewinder on my Patriot. I broke the fiber optic to my second pin, I rethreaded it through & everything is great.................(here comes the ?) How do I get the end to flair to keep it from retracting through the pin? Do I use a heated blade to flatten the tip or what? Thanks for your help in advance.

RE: Cobra sidewinder ?

You might try using hot blade or maybe placing a lighter flame carefully next to the tip untill it started to melt ,, i also have the Sidewinder hopefuly i won't have to go that route.

I've got a new sidewinder, myself.
That's a good question.

I figured the new fiber would come with a new pin attached.
Guess not.

Have you asked Cobra what their recommended proceedure is?
I'd sure like to know what they have to say.

Nothing on their website.................still not brave enough to just up & do it. I was trying to figure out if anyone else had the same problem or what they did to fix.

I know exactyly how you fix it. I also bought a sidewinder and had investigated a little before buying it. I knew sometimes people had this problem. But cobra sells pins just for the sidewinder and they will have the fiber optics already attached to the pin just install. The only thing is at sporting good stores and pro shops they want about $8 for one. It is worth it because I know a person who tried to melt them and the fiber optics turn out irregular compared to the other pins.

Super Glue n Toothpick

Using a toothpick you can place a 1/2 drop of super glue to hold it in place. Then you dont have the melting problems
