Bowtech Equalizer cam issue/question
 

I know the whole thing has been debated over several times, but how much cam lean/limb twist are you guys seeing on your equalizer bows?

I looked at mine tonight and it seems mine has quite a bit of lean to the top cam, I'm talking 1/8" and I'm getting an approximate 2" right tear with the rest set-up at about 7/8" center shot, no vertical tear when trying to papertune, I know papertuning isn't the be all tuning method but arrow flight is horrendous.

I'm using various arrows, cxl2 250, x-cutter, acc 3-49, gt xt 55-75, etc at 60lbs with 30" draw, arrows are approximately 28-28.5" nock goove to insert w/ 100gr tips.

Any help would be appreciated in getting rid of some of the cam lean/limb twist to see if this changes anything would be greatly appreciated.

I'm really bummed about this as I really like the bow, best Bowtech I've owned.

Just another note, I took measurements of the axle to axle length on each side of the bow and it is approximately 1/8" different.

Need help guys.

If your bow isn't set up this way,, try it and see; The cable coming from the large cable track on the top cam should pass INSIDE the cable coming up from the large cable track on the bottom cam. My Allegiance came to me the opposite way and there was just a bit of lean. I picked up the wife's Defender and noticed that it was cabled the way I outlined and it had VERY little lean. I made the changes to my Allegiance to match the Defender and there is now ZERO lean,, anywhere. I still have my cables crossed below the guard rod but I had to flip my slide upside down to match the new Defender's slide. My slide now has the drop away tab pointing up and the long slot of the slide is towards the riser;)

WWAG-

I'll check it out tonight, but I highly doubt that with the cables cris-crossed wrong that I'd be getting as much lean as I am, the top limb is noticeably twisted at rest and it is only worse at fulldraw.

I will say IMHO the lean is so bad I struggle to keep the bow in a vertical position as the bow seems to want to keep the cams vertical.

Just curious what is the centershot on your bow?

Just FYI.

I'm not sure if this would make any difference, but my Allegiance came shipped with the long slot forward on the slide. I checked around looked at a lot of Allegiance picks and they all had the short slot forward. My buddies Old Glory cam with short slot forward as well.

I contacted Bowtech and they said they made a switch and the cable guards are now shipping with long slot forward.

It does make a difference because I noticed after I made the cable switch, my point of impact chaned. I beleive that there's less cable rod torque now on my Allegiance;)

No noticable lean on my OG, but I have not measured anything. It shoots too well to change something or worry about something.

Double Lung--what I can tell you, BowTech is now using cams with a wider axle bearing hub and also one 'thicker' shim on either side of the cams.
This should raise the eye brows--don't you think?
I can also tell you that some bows are coming with more noticable limb twist than others.
Russ is fortunate to have gotten one of the better configurations, and I'm indeed happy for him.
If it is a bad as you mention, I would consider asking your Pro Shop to order you in a pair of these newer cams--just to see if it helps.
I think these EQ Bows will be much better next year--seems that they are some teething problems and it also appears BowTech is aware of this--even though they're aren't saying very much--eh BowTech Shooter-;).

Bad enough that I'm seriously considering dumping the bow if I can't get it figured out soon, started to pull the trigger on getting rid of it but thought I would give it another chance. I really like the draw on these bows and the performance but not worth the headache right now.

Have you even taken it to be looked at? It can't be something that couldn't be easily fixed.
