Fletch-tite for carbons
 

Do you really need to use the platinum fletch tite on carbon arrows, I seem to recall someone said they had been using the regular with no problems.

make sure you use the platinum!!!!! I have tried this before and after a couple of shots if you use the regular glue they will fall off!!! trust me!!! brad bowtech patriot;)

Yeap, I do however sand the finish if it is smooth finish. Works better than carbon glue, which will get britle over time

As ewolf said, lightly sand the shaft to get a gritty surface then clean it with 92% alcohol. I've used Fletchtite for years with good results. The main advantage of Platinum is setup time.

Ive never used platinum, regular has always worked. As ewolf and BG said though, make sure you sand the shaft lightly and clean it with acetone or something that has no oil in it. But, ive never had fletching come off, unless it was shot off. And even then, the base is still there.

I agree with cleaning the shaft thoroughly. When I prep a carbon arrow for a friend I will use Scotchbrite pad with just a touch of scouring powder to lightly clean the area. Than wash the residue with water and dry. Before installing the vanes I will wipe the arrow and the base of the vane with lacquer thinner. It is very important to clean the vanes. There is often a residue from the release compound applied to the molds with the vanes are poured.
