Quicktune 4000
 

I plan to replace my Quicktune 1000 on my Mathews 'FX' with the 4000 Drop Away. Any advice or cautions available.

I did the exact same thing about three weeks ago with no regrets. It took me a little time to get it tuned properly because of the compactness of my riser but now that it's set up- it is great. The only thing that I'd suggest is: Instead of installing the rest cable with the factory included bolt and cable slide, I had my shop drill a small hole through the existing cable slide on my bow top to botom (parallel to the string). I threaded the cable through bottom to top, and twisted it on itself. This will cause the rest cable to move farther right and have no possible opportunity to rub my arrow/ fletching. Additionally, I didn't trust the "friction" method that the factory attachment relied on an was concerned that if it broke in the field it would be an early ticket home. I may be able to post a picture if you're inerested in seeing what I may have poorly described.

I just put a mirage on my Mathews FX & love it. If you havee not checked it out go to Golden Key's web site. I think it is the best drop away on the market right now.

Do you have the picture on your website? I'd like to see it. I retired a few years ago from Architecture and I have a thing about modifying equipment from it's original configuration. Once one makes these modifications this most likley voids any waranty or manufacturer responsibility. That said though the changes you made seem viable and doable. My 4000 is due to be delivered on September 20 [while I'm out deer hunting] and after looking at your picture and the sight I may also consider these changes.

Here is a link to the pic's of my Quicktune 4000 installation showing where I drilled through the cable guard/slide and fed the Quicktune cable through. It also shows the actual reticle in my Eotech holographic sight (I get many questions about it)
