How do you go about paper tuning? What should I do first? How close should I start? How far should I go?

paper tune from 6 feet away from the paper

any farther back the arrow will correct its flight path and render a bullet hole which can be a false reading. the only purpose paper tuning should be used for is to determine that the arrow is coming off the bow string as straight as possible.

a slight high nock tear is acceptable

Left or right tears indicate the rest is off the centerline of the string or gripping the bow too tightly causing torque

an elongated left to right tear or depending on LEft or rhght handed shootertear usually indicates a weak spined arrow

low and high nock tears indicate either nock point too low/ too high or if you are using a stationary rest can indicate spring tension is too stiff or too light

If you shoot fingers forget paper tuning eyeball it and move right to group tuning:D
