Shoot it and find out. You ain't going to see much difference in height until you shoot at least 30 yards. It only changes your speed about 5fps. Probably just gang adjust unless you shoot longer.

For example, just today I was shooting an indoor 3D with arrows 65grains heavier than my sights are set for. At 20 yards there was only about 1" difference in elevation. My speed went from 295fps to 270fps and all I had to do was change my ming. Instead of my pins hitting right on at 25,35, and 45 yards they were hitting at 20, 30 and 40 yards. I didn't change the sight at all. I just changed my thinking.

You have to shoot it. Your bow needs to be retuned.[&:]

I thought this was going to be a draw weight thread.

You will need to reset all your pins. You have picked up a good bit of speed and the diameter of the carbon will probably be less than the aluminum. This will require either rest and/or nock set adjustment.

RE: dropping from 125 to 100

Dropping your point weight will have the effect of stiffening your shaft.
Not always a bad thing. ;)

Anyway, it may or may not seriously affect your tune.
It depends on where your current arrow's spine value lays within the adjustment capabilites of the rest of your setup.
If you were shooting right near the edge of it before, then something will have to change.

First shoot it and see, but if your paper tune was good before, you'll probably see a right tear with the 100s.
If it is small, try shooting field points vs broadheads for point of impact comparison at several distances.
That will tell you how bad it really is.

If you're not satisfied...
Try moving the rest left (if you're right handed), raise the draw weight, buy new weaker spined arrows, or go back to the 125s.

Don't worry about making any changes to your sights until after you have the arrows flying right.
That should always be the last adjustment, as they have nothing to do with proper flight, and will not help you make good hits when your arrow is fishtailing or porpoising. Penetration is also gained with a good tune since all of the arrow's energy is directed in a straight line driving the point forward.

Good luck.

RE: dropping from 125 to 100

i shot it 15-20 times and i noticed speed but i had good groups
does that mean everything is ok?

RE: dropping from 125 to 100

Now try some broadheads. Then before you start tinkering go Easton's website and download their Maintenance nd Tuning Guide. This should help you along

RE: dropping from 125 to 100

You can still get arrows to group at a given distance with a poor tune.
It just means they are doing the same thing during each shot -no more, no less.

While that sounds OK, the problem comes in when you change the distance to your target, like when hunting.
The arrow may be dead on at 20 yards, but may be high, low, left, or right at other ranges. If you always shoot at 20, you'll never see it. If they hit 2" left at one range, and 2" right at another, now we have 4" total error. Add that into possible maistakes in form for a given shot, and Murphy's law that seems to come into play when hunting, and you have shortened your effective range considerably.

Go with BG's suggestion.
The tuning guide is a great help.
If you have trouble with the Zipped PDF version, they can send you a hard copy.

i dont have time to tune it at the moment either

RE: dropping from 125 to 100

Personally, I'd go back to the 100's if they are already tuned, shoot well, and match the point of impact for your 20 yard pin. Then actually shoot them and verify everything is OK before competing.

But, if you're getting decent groups at 20, and the whole match is at 20, it's not a big deal.
I'd definitely get it squared away well before deer season if you hunt.
Get it working right first, and then give yourself a few weeks to practice more with your final setup for the season.
Don't be like some guys who are still tweaking after their 3rd hunt of the year.
I never make any adjustments during the season unless really necessary.

ill be done tweaking during the summer but theres nothing ineed to change
just i dont get the tuning that was mentioned above if they fly good what is there to fix?[&:]
thanks

RE: dropping from 125 to 100

If they group well, shoot bullet holes in paper with no tears, and shoot braodheads to the same place as your field points, then you are in good shape. The tuning suggestions above would only be needed if you saw a noticable change in flight.

How'd you shoot at the tourney?
