arrow question
I shoot a 60-70lb Reflex Grizzly (set at 65lbs), 27" draw. Wisker Bisquit. IA cosmic sight. Stealth hunter 6" stabilizer.
What weight arrow (GPI) and weight broadhead (100 or 125) would you recommend? I presently have a dozen red head Carbon Fury 350 which I think are 11GPI. I will hunt black bear this fall and maybe moose and whitetail. Pretty sure I want to stick with carbons because of the durability compared to aluminum. For broadheads I am thinking Montek G5 or slick tricks. So the question do I stick with the relatively heavy Carbon Furys and use a 125gr head or buy some lighter shafts and use a 100gr head? |
RE: arrow question
Anything that is good for whitetail will be good for black bear. I would recommend shooting 2 different set ups if you plan on shooting a moose. As for point weight I let my bare shaft tell me. I would however use 125 for moose, simply because your arrows should be heavier and this will keep the FOC up. 11GPI is a good for penetration arrow, if you are planning on shooting more than 30 yards you might want to go with something a little lighter. I don't have any experience with the G5's or the slick tricks, I have heard good things about both.

RE: arrow question
ORIGINAL: TerryM and this will keep the FOC up http://www.huntersfriend.com/arrowhe...election-4.htm Some literature will recommend 7-12%, while others will recommend up to 15%. I like to keep mine around 10-12% for my hunting arrows. It's a good balance between stability and performance. |
