BowTech Allegiance.... 500 grain arrow.... 333 f.p.s.

Hey guys,

I was at the shop today and the owner recieved a call from his rep. The rep was telling him that they got a 28.5" draw length, 100# draw weight Allegiance in, and they tested it out with a 500 grain arrow and it shot 333 f.p.s. with a nock and the hush kit installed!

That means, this bow is putting out 123 ft-lbs of KE! Put a good solid fixed blade b-head on that thing and you can shoot through a cement wall :D

Yeah but you'd have to stand on the riser to draw it and.... well lets be honest all you could pretty much hunt at that point are eartworms or bugs, and they aren't very tasty or particularly hard to kill.:D

You sure that was a 28.5" model? Not saying it's not possible cause these cams are off the charts, and god only knows what a 100# model really can do.
You're a MAN if your hunting with that thing.[:-]
If it really is a 28.5"........imagine a 30".

Hey Matt,

Thats what the rep said. 28.5" draw and 333 f.p.s. with a 500 grain arrow! Geez, with a 30" draw, you can expect a good 17 f.p.s. or so.... a 500 grain arrow at 350 f.p.s.... 136 ft-lbs of KE!

With a setup like that you could get a pass through on the engine block of a mack truck!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, I hate to say anything to you Bowtech guys but, I think there are a few other bows out there that could push 333fps shooting 500 grains at 100 lbs. If not I will eat my Lone Wolf hat.;)

At 28.5" draw length?[:-]

What you are really saying is that this bow would shoot this 500 grain arrow at 233 FPS if it was set at 70 pounds. [X(]

That's not what he is saying at all. What he is saying, is that if the rep is correct in his findings, that this bow is very, very effecient at heavier poundages. BTW, if my calculations are correct, it would put a 500 grain arrow at 28.5" draw right at 280 fps, producing 87 ft. lbs of KE. There is no [X(] about that, just and .

100# draw weight. I'd just like to see the gorilla who shoots that thing.:D

Gotta see that one! 70lbs 28.5" draw with 500 gn arrow shooting 280fps?

Not hardly!

I think he was talking about 100# draw weight bow... Whole nother animal.

... Whole
No, it was a 500 grain arrow. What I said was if everything remains constant and you drop it from a 100# to a 70# bow, you can expect to get 70% of the energy the 100# bow would produce, and, therefore 70% of the speed. That's assuming all things remain constant and cam geometry is the same.

I think I got the quotes right now...and what I said above. I'll stick with my 233 FPS.

My Allegiance set at 62 pounds with a 29 inch DL shoots a 422 grain arrow a touch over 280fps.

I'd be willing to bet mine at 62 pounds 29 DL would shoot a 500 grain arrow mid 250's.

At 70 pounds 29 DL I would bet it would be right around 270fps.

These are impressive numbers I must admit. I'm sure as people start posting their speeds we'll see some good numbers. It's probably just me figuring a loss of performance with shorter draw lengths. It sounds like the alligiance may have very little performance loss at the shorter draw lengths due to the cam design. I just bought a 2004 Extreme VFT and am probably a little jealous of the numbers.[&:]

My Allegiance chrono'd at 295fps with Gold Tip 5575 XT Hunters 85 grain tips 4" Bohning fletching 28.5" length. I shot a 301 grain Gold Tip(total arrow weight) from my bow at 328fps. 65# 29" Draw

Looks like you're about 11 fps faster at 65/29 than my 60.7/29 inch Allegiance and you're showing 71.92 ft. lbs. K.E.;)
