Mathews Cam Position
 

After breaking in my winners choice string and cables on my q2xl, it seems that my cam position is off slightly. The two holes in the cam seem to be a shade off parallel to the shooting string like they are suppose to be. I am not sure though it is very close. The chart that a mathews tech sent me shows the right cam position for the SL2 cam, but also says that the position may very slightly if the bow is not at peak weight. I am shooting 66 pounds on a 70 pound bow. I am ready to start the fine tuning process, and wonder if I should have the cables twisted to get everything lined up or just start tuning? Personally, I don't think the cam position will matter too much as long as it is not extremely rotated out of position. The Straightline MaxCam on my MQ-32 is a bit out of 'optimum' rotation due to my twisting of the string to slightly shorten my draw length. In this out-of-perfect state the bow is still capable of shooting much better than I will ever be able to do. You will drive yourself crazy picking the fly specks out of the pepper. Worry more about shooting form and less about the micro-technical issues and you will be a much happier archer. Just my opinion.

If the cam in not in the optimum position, but your string nock is, you will have no problem. There is a certain position that will cause the cam to perform at maximum efficiency, but shooting out of this position will not neccessarily affect accuracy if the nock and rest are tuned properly.
