Setup for bear?
 

My first hunt of my return to bowhunting after a long absence will be for black bear. I shoot a reflex grizzly 60-70lb, 27"DL. Right now i only have red head carbon fury 6075 (11gpi). What do you consider a good arrow/broadhead combo for those overweight potentially nasty black bears? What total arrow weight would you want? I think I have been already talked out of mechanicals by some experienced bear and moose hunters, at this point the montec G5 looks good. Would you go to 125 or stick to 100 grs. ?

I am no bear hunter but logic would suggest to stick with whatever weight you use for your field tips so that you are able to still shoot constitantly. If you use 100gr points, I wouldn't change that just because I was hunting bear. I'm sure you'll get some more educated opinions on the matter though...

you set up will do the trick perfectly, plenty of draw weight your arrows are probably in the high 400grains, montec g5 cut on contact broadheads,vital shot =very dead bear. good luck

Any set up that you would use for deer would work fine for Black bear.

Terry I sent you a site {www.Bowjackson.com ] a few week's back ,I'd check on there to see what your FOC is,pick the weight of your broadhead from there ,I'm sure you'll find the 100gr to fit accordingly ,but once you find your FOC that will determine the correct weight of head you should use . Just follow the instruction's that are given to you ,it's very easy .I hope this help's you out .I'm shooting Montec's G5's 100gr out of my dually and they're perfect ,I don't figure you need anything more .Your arrow's are definetly heavy enough for bear .

Well there's lots to choose from pou there, and this will depend on the amount of $'s you wanna spend.
If you're hauling in the 60~70# range and want to conserve on the spending, the XT series Gold Tip 5575 with the G5/100G-BH will accomplish the job--providing you place the arrow in the boiler room.
Accuracy & shot placement will get you a kill with a 40# set up--you're pushing 60 plus. A 27" XT shaft (5575) W/100G BH will carry you over the 400 grain mark and your speed and KE will be just fine for that black bear!!
