One day, TWO bow purchases!

Hey guys, this evening my sisters boyfriend, my sister, my girlfriend, and I went to a few pro-shops to check out bows as my sisters boyfriend decided he wanted to upgrade from his old High County. Well, we went to one local shop and he was looking at the new Hoyts and Mathews! He asked to shoot the new Mathews Switchback and a Hoyt V-Tec. Well, he shot the Mathews and his mount dropped, then he shot the Hoyt and he had a different look. He told me to shoot them so I shot them and the V-Tec suprised me! The draw cycle seemed a little stiffer than I had expected but in typical Hoyt fashion, it was very quiet and had little hand-shock. I then picked up the Maaa..... Maaaaaa...... Mathews! I nocked an arrow and slowly drew back. First thing I noticed is that this bow isn't all that smooth of a draw cycle. It was pretty stout but it didn't have any big peaks or humps. Well I got back to full draw and hit a nice solid back-wall, which I had heard this bow didn't have. There was a decent valley. I then squeezed the trigger of the release and this is where the bow shocked me. It was very quiet, but nothing amazing. The amazing thing was how little hand-shock there was! I have never particullarly cared for Mathews (still don't like the grips), but this Switchback is a major step-up for them. If they can smooth the draw out a little bit, they will have one heck of a great bow! Well, my sisters boyfriend fell in love and he placed an order for a 30" 70# Switchback ($625.00)

Well, on the way home I told him to stop at the local BowTech dealer and check out the Allegiance! He really liked the bow, but he didn't like the grip! He said that it was too skinny for his hands and that it didn't feel as comfortable. He really liked the draw cycle and he was suprised how quiet it was. Well, next thing I know, my girlfriend is holding the new 2005 BowTech Miranda! She asked to shoot it and they took her into the range. I walked back and she started shooting and didn't want to stop. The guys at the shopped asked her how long she has been shooting and they couldn't believe it when she told them that she has never really shot a bow. They looked over her form and were amazed how good it was. Well, after a little thinking, my girlfriend put cash down on a 2005 BowTech Miranda 40# with 26.5" draw length! ($379.00)

All these people buying new bows has got me itching for one, but I think I am gonna hold onto my Liberty for awhile!

That bowtech Miranda is one sweet looking bow for it's class range.

You are right on about those grips, Tronjo on At forum does some nice work (see pic). I also found another person in Texas that makes killer grips . I'll see if I can find the link....
