Smallest fiber pin?
I just replied to a post on this forum about my favorite single pin site(mine is impact archery's cosmic)Anyhow I was just wondering if there are fiber pins out there that are really small yet bright.I would think that the smaller pin would work great at really long distances(for practice)The .030 pins out there cover a 3"bull out at 40 yards or better.Just wondering what company makes such a sigtht,or if many do.I dont shoot competition or anything but do practice out to 60 yards in the off season,it seams to help me a bunch. Also even though my cosmic sight is bright,it can be to bright for low light ,where you get a halo affect ,I think a smaller bright pin would be ideal.I agree there is alot made of bright pins, but if you hunt darker forrest cannopies,or from ground blinds, such as the double bull's the bright pins are the cats meow. Thanks for any replies.Bill D>

RE: Smallest fiber pin?
i have a cobra view master deluxe pendulum. super bright pin. i believe that it is a .19 pin if they make one. it is lots smaller than my savage sight. im not for sure though and it doesnt say on the package that it came in. nice pin. i would check the easy slide by cobra since u probably want an adjustable pin. contact them and ask them for specs.

If you like the Impact Archery Cosmic I'm pretty sure in their catalog you can order it with .30 or .19 fiber pins. For some reason every shop I see them in orders .30.
Good Luck! |

RE: Smallest fiber pin?
Put the pins on the sight that suit the range you are shooting at. I have a 5 pin copper john sight and, for my close range pins I use the 30s but for the long range pins (40, 50, and 60 yards), I swapped them out and installed the 19s. This works great for me since I use the same sight for hunting and 3-D (rookie).

Ya that is a good sight I like the HHA mover better though. JMO |
RE: Smallest fiber pin?
You can check out www.classicarchery.com they produce a fiber pin in sizes .010, .019, .029... I find they are plenty bright for me without produceing a halo effect..... I find them comparable in brightness to the Toxonics Fibers on their hunting sights.
When I shoot 3D Competion with my scope I use the Classic Scope with the .019 fiber single pin... seems to work extremely well for3D for me. For Hunting I am using the Toxonics line of Hunting Sights and some 3D Comp as well. |
RE: Smallest fiber pin?
drstalker,
just to let u know my experiences with red sights at low light levels. they suck! lol they are the first to dim between yellow green and red. green is the brightest with yellow coming in second. just thought id tell u incase u have a choice between any of these colors [which u do with the vital bow gear vert pin sight] |
RE: Smallest fiber pin?
Shootemup,Thank's I was thinking about that.My cosmic sight is a green sight,it seems to stay bright in low light.I checked out the HHC sights too they look like they are really well built.I shoot lefty too,so the pickins can be a bit slim at times.Lady Forge thanks for the link;)

drstalker,
just to let u know my experiences with red sights at low light levels. they suck! lol they are the first to dim between yellow green and red. green is the brightest with yellow coming in second. just thought id tell u incase u have a choice between any of these colors [which u do with the vital bow gear vert pin sight] I find for myself personnaly the Yellow Pin to be a real detrement to my performance. I will be the first to admitt that I have far From perfect eyesight ... but my eyesight dosent suffer in the color differencial department... if fact I have very light sensative eyes. I found myself haveing difficulty differencialting between the yellow and green fiber pin when at full draw ... when I first started using the yellow pin at a 3D Comp I made the mistake of shooting the target while holding the yellow pin on the 12 ring on the target all the while I thought it was the Green pin.... cost me a possible drop of 12 points in my score... I had to much of a hard time telling the yellow pin from the green pin. I found the color of the yellow pin to be to subject to color changes caused by lighting conditions, canopy cover colors that cause a change in lighting color caused by the light being filtered through the canopy and shadows. Sometimes the yellow pin would take on a greenish glow to it caused by the light being filtered through the green canopy above . I personnaly prefer to use the yellow pin as the pin for the distance I shoot the least. Just my personaly experience. As for the Classic Scopes... I was introduced to them and bought mine from Ginger Moorehead... they have been working great for her and I really like them... The women is an awesome shooter and bowhunter and I feel privaleged to have been able to pick her brain on the subject...... I only wish I could shoot half as well as her;) |
RE: Smallest fiber pin?
I first heard of Ginger on the the MZE rest video.Do they live in Illinois?
|
RE: Smallest fiber pin?
I first meet her when we were shooting at the Illinois ASA PRO/AM in Metropolis Illinois and it was my first PRO/AM I was competeing in and I bought my Classic Scope from her there ..... She was working in the Classic Booth since she was shooting a Classic Scope and she walked me through the selection choice process to find just the right combination of Classic Scope Products to fit my needs. I have never asked her where she lives, but I take it from her southern accent she is from one of our southern states.

RE: Smallest fiber pin?
