Wearing out a bow
Question, May sound stupid. I'm shooting a bowtech TOMKAT (just got it in OCT. of 04').
I have a short DL (26") so I'm shooting my bow maxed out @ 70lbs. Will this increase the "wear and tear" of the bow. I hunt and practice with it @ 70#. I didn't know if during the off season I should back off the poundage or keep it the same @ all times since thats what I hunt with. I'm guessing I'll need to replace the string every year but I didn't know about the rest of the bow. Am I way off on my theory? Any input would be greatly appreciated. |
RE: Wearing out a bow
You won't wear out the bow, but SOME of the parts can and do get worn. String and cables are the most obvious and should be replaced periodically. Bushings are usually plastic and show wear, cable slide as well. MAYBE, but not very often, the rockers between the limbs and riser.
