I've thought about trying one of these. I just don't like to press my bow (Bowtech Liberty) if it is not absolutely necessary. I've heard too many horror stories of cracked limbs with VFT bows.

Sooner or later you have to change your string. That would be a good time to try one. They cost $8.99 each from Cabelas. OUCH!!!! You can make one yourself for pennies. Here is a pic of one I made with diamondback serving. Takes about 10 minutes to make.

I tried making one of those last summer. However, I could not get it tight on the string, it would spin on the string and therefore it would move up and down a little bit.

O.K------let me get this straight, you have to take your string off and slide it on? [&:]

Are the knots really that bad? What is wrong with knots?

I was wondering the same thing. Whats wrong with tieing one on? I'v never had one come loose tho I'v heard of them breaking if someone keeps shooting one thats frayed. I went thru 2 this year & it would seem unconvienient to have to press your bow every time you needed a loop.

extreme1, Yes you have to press your bow to install. It is worth it if it does not stretch and wear out. If you shoot with one knot on each side of the string sometimes a knot will touch your face due to anchor point. Shoot alot and that spot gets sore quick. I have had trouble with regular D loops slipping. I tie them with small diameter serving. I haven't tried any of these yet. Don't want to mess with my hunting setup until season is over next week.

Im ordering a new string for my bow this weekend i hope so maybe i'll check into these a little further.:)
Now if you dont want it on for whatever reason it can be cut off like a regular d loop?

Sorry should have posted to top thread but can you explain how you made it and how the knot is made as well.Is there a site or a link you can refere us to

Yes, you can cut it off if you do not like it. I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to ask for instructions;). Here is a link for how to pics. Charles in Canada is to be given credit for posting . http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showth...4&goto=newpost

It look's pretty good but I'd almost think that it look's like it might be too much work to putting it on your string.

I use a Catfish Loop, and use tied string nocks to hold it in place. If you take the time to serve it real tight, you can keep it from moving or spinning without the string nocks. You can use one string nock or two, place them outside or inside the loop or make one nock larger or longer. The nocks can be twisted up or down the string to allow for micr-adjustment of your nocking point.

There are many advantages to the catfish loop. It will not stretch even a little bit. You can easily custom make the diameter and length to meet your exact preference and duplicate it identically each time. It will not slip or come off, and I doubt one would ever break. I put 40,000 shots on one (slipped it on a new string when I replaced the string). It never did break. I just left it on when I sold the bow.

Straight--------looks good:)
Now how in the heck do you make a catfish loop?

I am replacing my string and am seriously considering putting one of these on.I would like to make my own.

Here's the link - Catfish loop

It usually takes making a couple to get one you like. You have to put more wraps into the serving process than you think. Once you get the hang of it, you can make a good one in about 15 minutes that will outlast your string. On the other hand, if you make one a bit loose, it will act as a string dampaner and make your string unbelievably quiet on the shot.
