A New Bow

Hi Guys,

Last week i asked the question about the wieght of my bow?....
Will today I have found another bow that is bigger than the one i have. I'm thinking about changing from a Martin to a PSE. from a 48# to a 60# bow, but the cam on this PSE are round and not oval will that make a diff. And if you can can you explane the diff. from a round, soft med. and a hard cam.

As always thanks for any help what ever it may be;)

RE: A New Bow

The shape of the cam is an indicator as to how "aggressive" the cam is. A round wheel is like a soft cam while a hard cam looks more like an oval shape. If you go to the Easton archery webpage and do the arrow selection guide, it will ask you if you have a hard, medium, or soft cam on your bow. Next to this prompt are some small pictures to show you which is which.

I dont' know if this is always true, but the hard cam designs tend to be faster than a soft cam, though they have (generally) a harsher draw cycle.

adding to David....thoughts...If you were looking a martian jaguar with there single cam
That is definatly a hard cam. Not sure which Pse your looking at and they are good bows.
I am not impressed with them.
Get the best bow you can afford, even a used one. That will grow with your abilty.
