Sight Adjustment

Hi guys,

I got a new compound bow for x-mas with a 40 pound draw weight, and it works great but whenever I aim I dont tend to use the sight. I thought about this a tried to use the sight once and I totally missed the target and broke my arrow against my basement wall. I aimed with the top pin from maybe 10 yards and my shot went too much left and way too low. I have a Champion sight with four pins going horizontally. If anyone has any tips on a good way to adjust it please tell me. Thanks!!!

If your shooting low the lower your pin .and for shooting left then adjust your pin to the left .It's just that easy. Which ever diection your out then move your pin in the same direction.

something i always do is i put an arrow on the string and put it on my rest. then i turn my bow which ever way i have to so that the string is perfectly in line with the arrow when looking at the back of the bow. then i move my sight so that it is in line with the string and arrow. this usually saves a lot of time and it gets my left and right alignment almost perfect and it also saves me from losing any arrows.

Yep. The rule is to follow the arrow with the pin. If the arrows are hitting low, lower the pin. Hitting high, raise the pin. Left, move the pin left. Right, move the pin right. (left/right adjusments assume you're looking from behind the bow). NEVER adjust the sight based on one arrow. ALWAYS shoot three arrows into a group before making any adjustments. One arrow in a certain spot could be an accident. Two arrows in the same spot could be a fluke. Three arrows in a row in the same spot... That's a trend. Always establish the trend before adjusting.

Now, to be honest, the last adjustment I made on my sights was positional: removing them from the bow and tossing them into the junk drawer. ;) Really, if you can learn to shoot accurately without them, you're far better off.

Arthur P, now thats what I call a true gang adjustment. All your pins were adjusted at the same time.

Impossible..... not to be smart, but make sure if you're right handed that you're using your right eye to sight with. Sometimes, if your left eye dominant and you use your left eye by mistake and are shooting right handed.... you will hit way left.
