BowTech Allegiance!!

Just to let you guys know that mine came in today and that they are shipping 29 inchers on the Allegiance!!
The birth certificate says; 60.7 pounds,, 29 inch draw,, 300 grain arrow,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,317 fps:D
I'll be setting it up and shooting it tomorrow;)

Ya got me a little excited WWAG. My reasoning is that a 29 inch on the Allegiance should be a 30.5 on the Old Glory...a half inch short...darn! :D

Seriuosly, I am glad to hear it. That sounds like one heck of a Christmas present. :)

WWAG, why did you have to go and do something like this. PAHardwoods and I traveled halfway across the state and back looking for a dealer who had a couple to shoot here in PA. Nothing! Anywhere!

Can't wait to get my hands on the Allegience. Be sure to post some initial thoughts on the bow once you put a few arrows through it. Eager to here how she does.

Not sure where in PA you are but Acorn Archery in New Castle PA has them.

He has the Allegiance, Defender, Old Glory, Independence and Tomcat.

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Well I set the bow up and shot a few arrows through a VERY cold chrono outside[:@] Here's waht I got at 60/29;
356.2 grain arrow went 297 fps
391.4 grain arrow went 287 fps
484 grain arrow went 257 fps
518 grain arrow went 249 fps
The 484 grain arrow is my last year's hunting arrow I used with the 70 pound 29 inch Justice and the Justice shot then 247 fps. The Allegiance at 60/29 is 10 fps faster than the Justice with the 484 grain arrow:D
I think I'm gonna like this little 60 pounder!!!!:D
These numbers are almost identical to the readings I got with my '03 Pro 40 Dually!! Could we see the BlackKnight wearing these cams in '06????;)

"Here's what I got at 60/29;
391.4 grain arrow went 287 fps"

That's insane for a 25.5" riser and 7 inch brace height.

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Yep, when I do the math for the 391 grain arrow I get 71.53 ft. lbs. k.e.:) Suppose that's enough out of a 60 pounder??;)

Bowshopper 12-23-2004 05:26 AM

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Makes you wonder what kind of K.E. you would get with a 100 lb. Allegiance set at the longest draw length[:o]

Cougar,

The Allegiance is right between 33 and 34 inches in axle to axle length with a 6 7/8 inch-7 inch brace height. The Defender is between 31 and 32 inches in axle to axle length with a 7.25-7.5 inch brace height. What you are basically looking at are the Patriot and Mighty Mite VFT with the new cam system installed...plus one or two upgrades on components if memory serves me.

Letoff is adjustable on both models from 65 to 80%.

WWAG,
Do the cams have any type of timing/ reference marks on them ? Just curious as to how to check and what the manual says.

WWAG,

After the bows are built and tested through the chronograph, the tester draws timing marks on the cams as one of the last steps in the 73+ checks performed before the bow gets packaged up and shipped to the dealers.

If the marks are removed for whatever reasons there's also a specific measurement for each bow as well.

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

It seems as though WWAG's bow is right in line with my demo.

For those that missed the thread by Rangeball a couple weeks ago the specs and speeds I got from mine were;

The tested specs are 28" draw (2" short of AMO speed testing), 61 lbs.

301 grain A/C/C- 305 fps., 306 fps., 306 fps.

349 grain Gold Tip- 295 fps., 296 fps., 293 fps.

398 grain A/C/C- 271 fps., 270 fps., 272 fps.

536 grain 2117- 236 fps., 237 fps. and 237 fps.

I got three chrono readings of 319 fps this morning with a 301.4 grain arrow before it started doing some weird things like reading .3LE and .3LC. I think it was freezing up at + 8 degrees,,, I gave up and ran back in the house[:@]

Geeeeeees! You guys are just killing me! Now I'm thinking about a 60 lb. Allegence. Do you think a 70 lber turned down to 65 will still perform, or will it lose some performance?

Just dieing! Gotta shoot one!

Matt / PA 12-23-2004 09:37 PM

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Vaughn,
I'll tell ya, I can draw 70-80# bows no problem under any hunting condition but I'm getting a 60# myself.
No need for anything heavier! It'll draw like butter and still give me all the power I need.
It will provide more KE at 60# than many 70# models on the market.

CLOUD 9, MN 12-23-2004 09:45 PM

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Thats kind of what I'm thinking. I really don't want to be worried about drawing my bow. (as you may remember, I did have that disaster). Matt......If you had to guess the arow you will shoot, weight and tip weight, what will they be? What expandable? Could you still shoot a big expandable, like 1 1/2"?

Thanks

Matt / PA 12-23-2004 10:18 PM

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Vaughn,
I'm guessing since a 29"/60# Allegiance is doing 317fps with a 300gr arrow, that a 30" model will most likely do 327-328fps. (That's nuts for a 7" brace height and a full string![:-])
So what that means is that my 400gr A/C/C 3-60's at 30"/60# should be doing somewhere around 300fps based upon WWAG's doing 287fps with a 397gr arrow.
At 290-300fps for my 400gr A/C/C that's 75 to 80ft lbs of KE!
If he's shooting 287fps at 397 there's no way I'll be under 290fps for my 400gr. even at 60#'s! That is just unreal performance.
That's enough KE for any mechanical I feel like shooting and I will most likely shoot the 4 blade Rocket Sidewinders or Slammerheads I like so much.

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Wow, those are strong #ers!

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

So shooting a 385 grain acc out of a allegiance at 65#'s and 28.5 or 29" draw i could exspect 300+?

If so that is unreal, thats better then a unloaded supertec with a 6"bh

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Well,, I got 287 fps with a 391.4 grain Easton Fatboy 340 @ 60/29 so add about 2 fps per pound of draw weight increase,,, 5 pounds X 2fps = 10 + 287 = 297 fps. Might not make it but I'm guessing that you'll be VERY close if not over 75 ft. lbs. K.E. Heck,,, you could probably shoot a 7 inch mechanical with that much energy:D

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Just couldn't wait for the cold and wind to pass, so I shot the Allegiance in the basement today:D It's more quiet than I thought (without my teeth chattering like they were outside!!!!) I'd say it is very close to my Justice in terms of noise and I did notice there was more cable slide travel than the Justice. I measured the slide travel at 1 3/8 inches (on this 29 inch draw bow) so I'm thinking that drop away users will find that tuning their rests will be easier. The Muzzy Zero Effect should work better on this bow also:D Cable clearance seemed to be very good and noticed that the cables don't cross through your viewing area in the sight window (I read a complaint of this somewhere[&:])
Hopefully I can shoot this bow outside on Sunday!!!!!!;)

Russ:

How would you say the Allegiance compares with your Patriot Duallys. Since I currently have an '03 Dually, it would give me an idea what the differences would be. Thanks!:D

walks with a gimp 12-25-2004 09:15 AM

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Honestly,,, it feels VERY much like my '03 Patriot Dually but smoother and then there's that Infinity cam like stop;) It's the best of all good traits of all BowTech's cam systems rolled into one. My '03 Pat DC's birth certificate read 318 IBO at 70/29 so this 60 pounder is right with the '03 PatDC. My '03 Pro 40 DC was a 60/29 and it's B.C. read 315 IBO.
The Allegiance is definately quieter than the Dually and has a longer valley IMO. Looking at the cable tracks, I'll go out on a limb and guess that you won't see serving separation like on single cam bows due to the lack of sharp bends that the cables have to make. The small outside lobe on the Equalizer cam system is pretty much round but small and consistent, don't think there will be much of a problem there;)

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

Will the Allegiance shoot better than the Defender since it has a longer ATA or the Defender with a longer BH. Just trying to decide which I want to hunt with and some 3D. My dealer only has the Old Glory so far. Love my Justice but want something faster this year.

Hey walks , what kind of rest are you useing on the bowtech , a plainsman ? or something else . Im woundering if a muzzy rest will work with these bows . With my 02 patriot ,I know it worked well if the cabels crossed above the rod . I know there have been changes in limb angle and risor , and am hopeing the muzzy rests will work on the newer model , and cam configurations .

I'm using my own Plainsman™ drop away rest;) Actually, I robbed it off my poor little Justice:( When I walk into my archery room now, all my bows are jumping up and down, wanting to go outside and play and then it happens[:-] I grab the Allegiance and all the rest of them start whining[X(] I'm thinking I should just bring the Allegiance to bed with me to avoid something bad happening to her in the archery room overnight[:o]:D
I've thought about trying the Drop Zone arrow rest just to try something different and compare mine with, I can make mine cheaper but don't seem to have time lately for all that machining!

Ok just got back from setting up and shooting my Allegiance.

The MZE works real well on it.

As to how the bow feels and shoots all I can say is holly crap Bowtech has done it again.

As for the speed 28" draw, 60lb, 400 gr arrow 265fps consistantly through the crono and whisper quite 1/2 the time I did not know the bow had shot except for the THWACK into the target.;)

RE: BowTech Allegiance!!

One thing interesting about the E - cam is that based on the #'s posted, it likes a heavier arrow than IBO. This is a bit of a contrast to the Infinity cam which seemed to perform better closer to IBO.

Not that I have any idea why that is, but for hunting especially the E-cam #s suggest it's more versatile for hunting.
