Cleaning carbon shaft

What you do guys use to clean glue and base of feather of shaft when re fletching? I find it very hard to get all of the glue off unless I start taking a very small sliver of carbon out with it. It hasnt affected the strength of my arrow but I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

RE: Cleaning carbon shaft

I just use my pocket knife to scrape off the old glue. I've found that you can apply enough pressure to flake/scrape off the glue and not dig into the shaft. I run my fingernail over the area to check for any missed spots. Once it's clean I'll go over the area with a super fine sandpaper and then wipe the area clean.
