This is my first year to use feathers. Is there a good way to straighten damaged feathers or do I just refletch? I'ved tried steaming but not much luck

Thanks.

If theyre really bad scrape them off & refletch. If theyre just matted tho just wash em off & let them dry & they usually come back. Sometmes a hair drier will help too. I'v got an arrow thats already gone thru 2 deer this year & the feathers are fine. The bases are tinted red but thats ok. :D

also, a fairly damaged feather will stabalize an arrow very well. Even if there are sections missing in the feather itself, it will still work well.

Hold them in the steam coming from the spout of a boiling teapot. If you don't have a teapot, do them over a boiling pot of water. The steam will straighten them out like magic.

If you want REAL problems, follow BPS's advice.
