Fleece Clothing and Burs

First year hunting in the microfleece type clothing. Very quiet and comfortable. But during my last deer recovery of the year - spent some time searching through the thickets and picked up thousands of nettles (very small burs on a vine) I believe.

I have made several attempts to remove them with a brush, velcro type stuff and resorted to picking at them. If I am lucky, I will have most of them off by the start of next season.

Anyone have any cures for the common bur in this new softer cloth. Previous clothes - normally brushed them off with a heavy bristle brush but they are just too deep into the soft cloth.

Hoping one of the board experts can help me out...

Thanks for any ideas. Much appreciated.

I was going to order some new fleece material from cabela's which supposidly keeps the burs and snags off the clothes. Hope it works, sounds like a pain to pull em off one by one!

Just in case, was the microfleece you purchased advertised as &quot;bur proof&quot;? If it was, might be worth a phone call to the seller or manufacturer of the garment explaining your problem. Being a fellow Iowan, I think I know what you are talking about....I love to wear fleece and think it is great for bowhunting(warmth & quiet), but I make it a point now to wear &quot;bur proof&quot; outerwear when possible. I used to have a Fieldline backpack made of fleece, every time I would lower it from my stand it would pick up about 2 million burs, which were impossible to take off...it now hangs from a nail in the garage<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>, my packpack is made of saddle cloth now:).

Who was the guy that decided that rain proof and fleece go together? My fleece rain suit weighs 200 lbs after it gets wet. You stay dry but you have a heart attack carrying your rain suit out of the woods.

In general I think it was some guy who wanted a quiet rain suit. Fleece isn't supposed to absorb water, but it will get into the weave, as you have found.

Thanks Everyone for your input.. The pants are Scenlok Supremes. I will check with them to see if the Supreme is bur resistant. I know the Scenlok Select version is.

Appreciate all your input. Looks like I will start picking again tonight... Fridge is full and the garage furnace is on - should be a good time!!
