Effects of long arrows?

My down and out (money wise) friend was given a bow. I am willing to donate some arrows but they are about 2 and 1/2 inches too long. Should we get them cut. How much would it effect accuracy leaving them as they are?.............dabow

RE: Effects of long arrows?

A longer arrow will not effect the accuracy as long as the reference chart for the weight and length of the arrow are at the recommended spline or heavier. Any bow can be tuned with the recommended arrow from the chart or heavier. It's when you want to go down in arrow spline from the recommended arrow that you can run into trouble. The spline will not take the shock and excelleration and cause big problems for tuning.
Good Hunting;)
