Target help

I've just arrived in American Samoa for a 6 mos. and thought I'd use the opportunity to get in a lot of archery practice (esp. since I couldn't bring any firearms with me-bowfishing anyone?).

Do any of you guys have ideas/plans on making good & safe (will stop arrows w/o damaging my arrows) targets? I could always order one, but the shipping kinda makes the home built option very attractive.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Joe

RE: Target help

I made a target once out of carpet strips 3 foot square (6 layers) fastened them together at the top between 2 pieces of 2x4 fixed that to a stand and just let them hang.

RE: Target help

i've got a field tip target in the yard that is awesome. its just a 2x4 frame wrapped in chickenwire - except the top - and stuffed with old blankets and clothes. i put a tin roof piece on top and then burlap on the face and drew dots on it. cheap and effective - but no broadheads.
