Drop away rest timing

I shoot a Bowtech Liberty and had some issues with my cables rubbing up against each other above the slide. Some servings later and letting the cables cross more 'naturally' with no rubbing, I left the pro-shop (I have some other posts dealing with this issue). I obviously had to resight the bow (it was shooting low) and went on with my business. But I just wasn't happy with the way the bow shot since the change and couldn't put my finger on it. She'd be pretty accurate, but sometimes slightly inconsistant. I thought it was me and turned a blind eye.

Then - somewhere on this forum I read something about the arrow having to travel about 3" on the drop away rest before it drops away. I checked my timing and had a solid 1/2" of arrow travel before the rest dropped away (I have my drop away string mushroomed into my cable - hence the change). All my arrows were clearly following the rest! I adjusted it to have around 2.5" travel and suddenly I'm shooting 5" high ! ! But consistent. I'll resight again and see how this goes, but I have a better feeling about things.

I was stupid/inexperienced to not check this - but just goes to show that after you make one adjustment you SHOULD check everything. You'd be surprised to find out what moved!

How did you adjust your amount of travel? By reserving the cord higher or lower? Just wondering, because I am still playing around with mine somewhat.

Errr.... hope I didn't do this wrong, but just cut the string lifting the rest up shorter. Didn't move the serving point at all.
