String Leech Question
 

After reading some pros/cons about the Leeches, I went out and bought a set. I put two on the cables, and two on the string. I had an off-brand of Turantulas before.

One wierd thing was my point of impact moved to the left for both my field points and broadheads. I tried everything and in the end just moved the windage on my sight. They are grouping about the same as before...just left.

Any thoughts? I figured if there was any change in speed there would be a change in vertical impact, but that actually didn't change at all. Bows shooting fine, and quiter, but was curious.

By the way, I'm shooting a PSE Thunderbolt at 70#, GoldTip XT Hunters 7595, 100gr field/Muzzy 3 blade, DropZone fall away rest, Montana Black Gold ARCC Lite Sight. With this setup I was getting about 250 fps before.

You really shouldn't have noticed any difference at all. Even your elevation shouldn't have changed a whole lot. Since you had something on the string already changing to the leeches shouldn't have changed the speed enough to make a difference. Even going from a bare string to leeches doesn't make much difference in my experience.

Any chance something got bumped when you were pressing the bow to install the leeches? That's the only thing I could come up with.

Yes!, But, no idea what.

I violated one of the rules of bow hunting...once your gear is set up and shooting well...DON'T MESS WITH IT!

Anyway, I went back to square one and found two problems, I had a very slight fletch contact that was new. I twisted my nocks a bit and removed that. Then, I paper tuned again and found I was fletch high and to the left. I lowered my nock point and moved my rest a little. I'm now back to a bullet hole, but ran out of time to group test.

I agree that it shouldn't have made that much difference, but it appears that it did. My educated guess is that there is a difference in weight and/or drag between the two so it effectively changed the tune of the bow. Because there is usually less speed loss with Leeches I would have to say it makes your arrows act more limber now. Because your arrows maybe bending more coming out of the bow that might account for the type of tear you were getting.
