Can't get rid of left tear!
Bow - FX - 29.5" @ 63 lbs.
Arrow - GT 55/75 @ 27.5" Point weight - 100g 3-4" feathers, 4 degree left helical Rest - MZE This is the bow that was dry-fired this past weekend by one of my "students". Everything seems to be ok - I have shot the bow at least 40 times since Saturday, and all is well (grouping well out to 35 yds). Shot it through paper - left tear (not too bad, but definitely needs some tweaking). I move the rest to the left in 1/8" increments -- tear gets worse. I tried three different arrows (same weight, length, ect.) -- same result. I AM NOT tourquing the bow!! The bow shot perfect holes about three weeks ago - I am not noticing any fish-tailing during flight. The peep was split in two when the dry-fire occurred, so I have been shooting without it and have found I am every bit as accurate as before (might keep it that way!!). Any suggestions?? |
RE: Can't get rid of left tear!
Forgot to mention - the distance to the paper was 6' - at 12' the tear is still there.

RE: Can't get rid of left tear!
I'm thinking you should be moving the rest to the right, not left......at small increments. Hope I read that right. Good luck.

RE: Can't get rid of left tear!
For clarification -- the nock end of the arrow is tearing left of the field tip.

RE: Can't get rid of left tear!
A "nock left" tear requires that you move the rest to the "right."

RE: Can't get rid of left tear!
I will try moving to the right, but I was under the impression that one must move the point of the arrow (rest) where the fletchings are tearing the paper in order to get a "bullet hole". Thanks for the advise - will do!

RE: Can't get rid of left tear!
I move the rest to the left in 1/8" increments -- tear gets worse. Thats why it kept getting worse. You were moving it in the wrong direction. This will work out for you, I hope. Good luck! |
