RE: velcro or strap
I just put my velcro strap release on at the truck and it dosn't come off till i return to my truck.Havent had any problems as of yet:)
|
RE: velcro or strap
extreme1, I've tried that and I always seem to smack it against my bow or my treestand while geting into it, I might as well bring a pair of cymbols into the woods and play a little tune[&:]. do you ever have that problem?
|
RE: velcro or strap
ya thats partialy the reason why i asked ? ive tried having in on 4 b4 but ya its basically like a cymbol
|
RE: velcro or strap
I like the velcro, also it doesn't make any noise putting it on, so you can carry it then put in on in the woods. Also straps with a buckle don't seem to be as adjustable in size, like if you want to wear it over a heavy jacket.

RE: velcro or strap
I have velcro never had a problem
|
RE: velcro or strap
I have velcro and I have to strategically put it in my pocket so I can undo it without noise, and I only get one chance to put in on right otherwise I have to make a bunch of noise taking it off. Also when you guys take yours off after the hunt do you just make one quick rip or slowly take it off?
|
RE: velcro or strap
ya ive put it in my fanny back and did it b4 i was thinkin about mayb folding it so the velcros not together so theres less noise
i dont take it off till im walkin to the truck |
RE: velcro or strap
Buckle strap... velcro has NO place in the woods. I also like the consistant fit of the buckle strap.
|
RE: velcro or strap
Personally I like how quickly I can slip on my velcro release, but I've had it come loose before. Just this last weekend I had it come a little loose, to where it was longer than it usually is when I shoot, so I had to take about 5 minutes to pull is apart quietly and then tighten it up. Maybe it's because it's getting a little worn from constant nearly everyday use, but that's the only drawback I've had with it.

Velcro works great.

RE: velcro or strap
mlang------I do understand what your saying about being in the way when climbing. The easiest way for me to keep things as silent as possible is to turn the calipre up and tuck it into my jacket. It does get in the way at times but i like my release and just grin and bear it:D
Another trick is if the calipre isn't long enough you can put a heavy duty elastic around your wrist and hold the calipre up that way.Just hook it in the jaws and away you go:) |
RE: velcro or strap
I have always used velcro and have experienced zero problems.

RE: velcro or strap
I also like the consistant fit of the buckle strap. Only problem with buckle straps is most of them are leather. Sweat soaked leather - it happens when you practice in the summer - is an incredibly powerfull scent bomb. |

RE: velcro or strap
I prefer niether since I use a hand held. But I never like velcro much in hunting situtations.

RE: velcro or strap
Velcro will lose it's "gripping" power after repeated use. Also, the hook side will collect lint and debris.I know this for a fact because I use it in my upholstery shop for certain applications.I use a Scott Mongoose with the buckle strap, and when I put it on,it's in the same place, same hole, everytime.Thats something that can't be said for a velcro strap.Good Luck!...Bob

RE: velcro or strap
i think im going to fork ou the xtra 8 for the strap
|
RE: velcro or strap
I shot a velcro strap for years and this spring I bought a trufire hurricane with a buckle strap and my 3d scores have increased. I really like the consistant fit of the buckle strap.
|
RE: velcro or strap
I am currently using a velcro strap, but have been thinking about switching to a strap next season to have an exact fit everytime. When I bought my current release I was looking at caliper size and how the trigger felt. In retrospect I should have also considered the consitency of velcro versus a buckle system.
