Alpine Glide Slide on a Patriot
 

What am I missing here??

I put one on my Patriot because of all the guys I have seen that did said it made for a noticably smoother draw.........plus no cable wear.

I had a stock Bowtech slide on there before I switched and really I don't notice any difference in the feel of my bow at all.

Is there something else I should have done too?............it's a nice little slide but I just don't see or feel an improvement anywhere.


At least I will reduce cable wear ;)

Are the rollers rolling when you draw back?
Or are they bound up and the string/cable just dragging along them?

Sorry you didn't notice an improvement, maybe your bow was just ultra smooth to begin with;)?

I noticed a big difference the day I installed it after I shot it ~20 times with the factory slide on directly before the swap. And then I shot it ~20 times afterward. It feels to me as if the cable/string are no longer dragging, but gliding.

I added some light lubricant to my rollers to ensure they always roll and not stick.

I didn't have any discernable difference in feel of the draw cycle....it just increases the life of your cables by the reduced friction.

That could very well be............I though that the rollers were pretty tight when I put it on. Should I shave some of the rubber away from the rollers so they have more room to roll??.........I don't think lube would help because it seems like the sides are pinching the rollers a bit.

The rollers on one of mine seemed to have more play than the other.
I had to get my wife to watch as I drew back to ensure they were rolling.

On one bow they were, on the other they were not until I dissasebled it and placed a small drop of tri-flo between the two rollers. It did the trick.


If the rollers are tight, then maybe you need to do a trim job. I don't see what it could /would hurt.

I was thinking about getting an Alpine slide for my Liberty, but I have a QT4000 dropaway that connects to the slide. I don't think there's anything on the Alpine slide to attach the dropaway to, is there? If not, can I rig mine up somehow to attach directly to the cable instead?

Yes you can serve the pick up cable of the rest to the cable of the bow.

Atlasman, I checked my patriot this week and found that BOTH of my rollers quit rotating. A build up of wax tipped me off that something was amiss. I trimmed and lubbed but the best I could get was for one of the rollers to turn.
I then drew back my stalker and only one of the rollers was rotating on it.
This got me[:@].
I replaced the gilde slide with a new saunders (tephlon w/ roller) and the speed was the same, but it pulled the cables too far over IMHO.
I tried a simms and the stock slide and both lost my set up 1-2 fps and the noise created during the shot sequence got louder than compared with the glide slide.

I called alpine and explained that I wanted to use their slide, but BOTH were not working properly. The one on the patriot experienced a stretching of the axle hole in the rubber for the rollers as it is no longer round, but elongated.
His response was curious in tone as if this was the first time he had heard of such an issue. He said he would send me 2 new slides as long as I returned the two non working slides so he could look into them.
Unless they redesigned them somewhat I can only see the same thing happening with them.
I guess I will order a hicks or bohmer and use the alpine until it quits working again:(.

For those using Alpines- check for proper rotation.

try the teflon tape out--and apply it to the outer edge of the cable guard.clean the cable guard real good and it will last all season and works really well.

I wonder if the draw difference with an Alpine slide is a function of what poundage the bow was originally set at?

I'm pulling around 67lbs, and it felt like the cables were screaming as they slid through the stock slide. The Alpine took that away and caused the cables to wear less. With less poundage, this effect may be less dramatic - maybe enough to negate the advantage of using the Alpine slide.

Atlasman.......what poundage are you pulling?
