Cable Slide

How necessary is the cable slide?

I'm setting up a used bow for my wife and it does not have a cable slide. All the cable slides I've seen at the bow shops are designed for a round cable gaurd and this one has a funky T shape.

I'm having a hard time picturing a "t" slide, but for the most part cable slides are very important in keeping your string and cables out of the way of the arrow during the shot sequence.

you definately need a cable slide to keep the arrow from contacting the cables when releasing the arrow.

you could place the cables over the opposite side of the cable bar but this will put the cables at too much of an angle possibly causing cam lean and could cause the cable/string to derail not to mention excessive wear to the cables rubbing aginst each other!

My old XI has that "funky t shape" I've found a slide that simply sits between the cables and the rod. It looks iffy but does work. The bow doesn't have any arrow clearancy issues.

Mine is an XI also. Can the cable gaurd be replaced a roundish one?

I don't know if you can replace it or not. I'm gonna be going to the shop were I purchased mine this week. I'll see if they still have some and let you know. If you still need one.
