broadhead alignment

While setting up my hunting arrow the other day, I had to heat the insert and spin it to get the wobble out. Well, the arrow melted and broke. Now, I didn't think I was using that much heat. As a matter of fact, I was heating the field point and letting the heat transfer to the insert, so there was no direct contact. Is this a common problem?

BTW, the arrow is a Beman ICS hunter.

I could be wrong but i don't believe you can heat a carbon to adjust the insert. I believe carbon inserts are held in by epoxy not glue.

There is a very fine line when trying to heat up a carbon arrows insert. So fine that I don't even try to attempt it. It doesn't take much heat to degrade the resins in the carbon fibers.

Best way I found is to use 5 minute epoxy and install hte inserts with a broadhead already screwed into it and get them straight right from the get go.
