Although I now get 260fps out of my razortec, I used to get pass thru's every year shooting an old Darton SL50 that flung arrows at a chrongraphed 173fps. Shot placement is everything.

I've been gracefully arcing wooden arrows through deer for years at 150 fps.

I can remember when my bow was the fastest thing out there - advertised AMO 197 FPS, and they figured that there just wasn't any way they could get the bows to shoot get faster!! I shot 62# in those days, but with the arrows I shot I probably was getting around 180. The arrows went thru the deer and stuck in the ground. Once you've gone thru the deer the extra speed just means you have to search a larger area to find your arrow, or it is stuck deeper in the ground. (They can only be so dead).[img] I'm with the "quieter is better" crowd these days, and at 77 years of age I'm down to 47# shooting about a 430 gr arrow w/100 gr. pts. I haven't chronographed it lately, but while I was shooting 51# I was getting around 236 FPS, which I figured was good enough. I do limit my shots to under 30 yds and they have to be facing just right. Also, I hunt from the ground more than I used to, and find it is a "little" harder to get close shots. As mentioned before, shot placement is the key.

I fall in line with most all of you. I remember back about 20 yr ago when i shot a old browning cobra talk about slow? but i did take a few deer with it and every thing else that run crawled jumped or flyed, It`s kinda funny know i look back i don`t know why the animal`s just did not step out of the way of the arrow when they seen it commin

I wouldn't change a thing. I th sounds like you got a deer killing set-up there. The speed is plenty good enough. Now all you got to do is hit em

I'm just as guilty as anyone when it comes to speed,I thought it would "make" me a better archer.Well,I was wrong, again.I've owned bows that were much faster than my LX,but I could'nt shoot them with the comfort and accuracy that I enjoy with the LX.To me,thats what it's all about...Bob

Bottom line, it's not the bow. It's the skill of the guy behind the string that puts meat in the freezer.
Truer words were never spoken.Nuff said.

In my opinion you are sitting in a good position & I would not go to a arrow shaft that has less weight.
