Hey wiccrman,I would suggest going to a pro-shop and getting a good second hand bow that is already accesorized,have it set up for you and away you go.
I am sure you can find a good mathews in that price range if not cheaper.Good luck and keep us posted on what you find

You can also measure your wingspan by spreading your arms out and measuring the
distance from fingertip to fingertip. Refer to the chart below for your proper draw length.
Add or subtract a half-inch for each inch over or above the wingspans listed below.

Tips to help measure your draw length

Draw length is measured from the string to the far side of the shelf,
which is 1 3/4 inches longer than so-called "true draw"
(which is measured to the throat of the grip).


Stand flat against a wall and have someone mark the tips of your middle fingers
outstretched (wing span) and then measure that distance between the marks
with a tape. Take that measurement and subtract 15 inches and then divide that
number by two. This gives you your correct AMO draw, give or take 1/4".
On the bow, AMO draw length is the distance from the deepest
part of the grip to the apex of the string, at full draw, plus 1 3/4".

You measure true AMO from the deepest part of the nock to the
center of the burger button hole plus 1 3/4 inches. That is the draw length
cam that you want to order. This will bring it about 1/8 inch in front of
the riser."

Like I said it's just a starting point. After you get the bow set to this draw length you can adjust from there, longer/shorter. Hope this helps. Be safe.

I got a new bow,

It's a PSE Bruin,It's set at a 26 inch draw,Which was what I need,And Right now untill I get use to it,It's only set at 45 pounds,But I think I can build up to a higher weight,And the bow goes to like 60 pounds or so,So I think I'm good to go,Thanks for all the help Ladies and Gents...

I said before I now have a new PSE Bruin bow,Well I started out at 40 pounds of draw weight.And now I'm up to 50 pounds,And it's getting easier to pull every day,So by the start of our bow season,I should be getting close to 60 pounds,I hope so anyway's,

I love the PSE bow,It's great,has a 65% let off,And feels great,I never really tried bow hunting before,So I most likely won't do very well this first season,But if I luck up and get one,I'll post a photo of it on the net and post the link in here,

Well,Our season doesn't open until like September I think,So that gives me lots of time to get better with the bow,And who knows,Maybe I'll have some luck.
