Vanes
I have some plastifletch vanes and I need to straighten one vane on four of my arrows. How do you all do this. I tried a blow dryer and it didn't work. Maybe I did not hold it over long enough.
Thanks |
RE: Vanes
Just curious, why would you want to straighten your vanes?
|
RE: Vanes
AAE's ripple quite a bit.
When they get like that I re-fletch..I've never had good luck with the blowdryer on them..it helps a bit but it's usually not "good enough" for me. |

RE: Vanes
Just one vane has a ripple. It was a cable issue, I fixed it. I will probably have to refletch.

RE: Vanes
Don't refletch! Turn one of your stove burners on high and wait for it to heat up a little. Hold the arrow about 8-12 inches above the burner and slowly spin it. Don't heat it very long because you will melt the vane (maybe 6-10 seconds) The ripple should come right out. Let me know how it works and don't forget to turn the burner off when you are finished!;)

RE: Vanes
Hokie3,
I tried out what you said on one arrow and it did not work. It rippled the other fletches. I shot the bow yesterday and they fly just the same, so I will just let them be. Thanks for the help. |
RE: Vanes
Sorry to screw up your other vanes but it has always worked for me. What kind of vanes are they?

RE: Vanes
