Opinions wanted on Reflex and other low buck bows

I don't read a whole lot about Reflex bows on this forum. It seems like a Buckskin with 7-1/2 brace height and cam and 1/2 would be a great bow. At $350, it seems like a good deal. I'm in the market for a new bow and I'm considering the Buckskin. I'm going to sell my Mathews Z-Max because of the short brace height (6-1/4"). It's pretty fast, but the short brace height makes it more demanding to shoot well than a bow with more brace height. Is this a correct assumption?

I'm out of the Mathews, Hoyt and Bowtech league. So I've got to get a bow that is accurate and forgiving in the $300 to $400 range.

I'm sure there's a few people out there with some opinions to share! ;)

Take a look at the Hoyt Ultramag for a mid priced bow with tons of options. It falls right into your spoken price range.

Cam 1/2, xt 2000 limbs, TEC riser, nice thin grip. If you are looking for a brand new bow it is a steal for the price.

Specs:
7 1/8 brace height
36 inch axle to axle
IBO 305
3 pounds 12 ounces

Martin Prowler is a very good buy too and right at the $350 mark.

I shot a Reflex Extreme bow for a few years and couldn't ask for a better shooter. They are great bows for the money. Heck I guess if old Chuck hunts with them, the they must be pretty decent.

Why not look at a Mathews FX .........$349 here 7 1/2" bh 308 IBO ......and a Mathews dealer would probably trade in the Z-max with no trouble !! Just a thought !

Although I don't think there is anything wrong with the Reflex, Hoyt , Buckmasters, Bear/Jennings, Bowtech's low end one, etc. !! Plenty of good choices in that price range !

Machined riser, 34" axle to axle, 7 1/2" brace, 306 IBO, Cam 1/2....

It's a Hoyt without that ugly Tec riser! What's not to like about it?;)

I wouldn't turn up my nose at Martin's offerings either.

Ugly TEC riser? HMMM, to me a lot of people how trouble with the concept of a fine art masterpeice.:D

Its better to be different than copy off one another like everybody else.

ArthurP, someday buddy, you'll see the light.;)

Hey, I can talk about Tec risers. I own a ProTec.[&:]

If you're thinking the Tec riser is a fresh new idea, I'm guessing you never saw the Martin Onza from the late 80's. Remember here while back when Martin tried to re-introduce the Onza and everyone accused them of copying the Tec riser? It's really the other way around. Martin was first.

I don't know but if you ask me those Hoyt Risers look like the Victim of a Tragic Farming Accident:D

I think you are right. The Reflex is a lot of bow for the money. So are the others mentioned. I handled the Hoyt Ultramag, and it is indeed a very nice bow for the money. You don't need to spend $600+ to get a good one.;)

I'd take a look at the PSE Firestorm Lite. It's a short little thing, but has an 8" brace height and shoots really well. My brother's had one for several years and kills more deer with it than any of his buddies with higher $ bows. It's about $350 locally with PSE accoutrements. I don't particularly care for the grip, but I have small hands and really like the grip on my AR34.

The Firestorm is a nice little bow. I advised a first time buyer to get one and he likes it. I missed a Bowtech MityMite on eBay that went for $250 with sight, arrow rest and quiver because I overslept!! That would be real similar to the Firestorm, but would allow one to strut around more, because it's a Bowtech!! ;)

I'm looking for something real forgiving. Right now, I'm looking at the Martin Prowler SE with Acu-Trac double cams. On the bow list here http://www.huntersfriend.com/bowspecs1.htm they list the "forgiveness" of the Prowler at an 88%. It must be easier to shoot than my speedy Z-Max!! If the cam setup is like the Reflex and Hoyt Cam & 1/2, I'm pretty sure that the Prowler will be my next bow.

By the way, I'm looking for a left hand, 60#, 29" draw bow, if someone has a nice one for sale.
