3'' or 5'' feathers on my arrows

i am shooting a wisker biscuit and i currently have 5'' feathers on my arrows. what i need to know is can i switch to 3'' feathers and by doing so will i still be able to group my arrows. the 5'' make a lot of noise on the draw and the 3'' would be behind at the start. i like the biscuit but if this is a problem i may switch. please help?

Are 4" too long? You can also adjust how close to the knock your fletching are. To answer your question though, you shouldn't even notice the difference between 3" and 5".....not with field points anyway. Good broadhead flight will be easier to achieve with 5", but 3" isn't undoable.

I've been testing this myself on the same bow. same exact arrows, same helical, only difference is I'm testing 3" vs. 4" feathers.

My Conclusion: 4" have a noticeably better steering effect on anything but a perfect shot (form-wise)..even field points.. yet at longer ranges (35 plus), the difference in drop is also very noticeable in the case of 4". They impact a couple inches lower.

Most people I know shoot 3" for target, and I shoot 5" for hunting. I personnally think that 5" balance out a broadhead quite well. but most people I know shoot 4" fleching because they can't decide either or.

I have been shooting 4 3" feathers through my Wb for a couple months now and I think I have found my "perfect fletch" 4 3" feathers provide excellent control, simple nocking and the reduced wear and fletching clearance from cables and other areas is a big Plus.

Hmmm....I may have to try that...I haven't shot a 4 fletch in YEARS.

In my post I was assuming normal hunting distances(based on the WB and 5" feathers) out to 30-35 yards....not beyond. My fault for assuming.:D
