60lb draw weight
 

Does anyone hunt with 60lb draw weight or less? If so what kind of penetration are you getting and with what arrow broadhead combo?

59 or 60 lbs. Cx 300s with 85gr Steelforce broadheads. Complete pass through at 30yds last year on whitetail. Going with 100gr heads this year and I would'nt be afraid to shoot any big game with this poundage.

Rochelle 60lb. more than enough, i got my first deer with a 53lb. recurve with bear razor heads i believe around 145 grs. pass thru and found the arrow about 35-40 yards beyond were i hit the deer. good luck and good hunting rich

60 lbs at 28 inches , 3 deer last year , 3 passthru's , last year I used vortex minimags 2" mecanical 2 blade broadheads , and ce terminator arrows , at around 455 grains , this year the only thing Im changeing is going to a lighter arrow , beman matrix , at around 400 grains .

why would you wonder about 60# unless hunting for elk????
my boy uses a micro midas 3 at 30# and passed through a 100# deer and cut the top of the heart....Quartering towards us. 60# is a great weight when it is 10 degrees on the stand.

I hunt elk with a 60# Mathews MQ-32 shooting Bemans ICSH carbons with fixed blade broadheads. This is more than adequate as long as the shot placement is good.

Even though my brother and I shoot identical arrows, I have higher arrow speed (and therefor greater energy) with my 60# bow than he does with his older generation 70# bow.

I shot my first elk with a 47 lb recurve. It lived about 6 seconds after the hit.

I have a 60 lb peak weight bow that am considering hunting with. Penetration is obviously not as good as my 70 pounders but it is still very good. I do not think I would hesitate hunting with it though my choice of expandables would be a bit restricted. ;)

Frank, curious what you feel the cutting diameter limit you'd feel comfortable with at 60#.

I hunted with 70# and 70'#s of ke last year, drove a 1.5" cut rocket through a doe and deep into the tundra on the other side :)

I've been shooting my bow at 65#, but am contemplating going down to 60#. Just a tad more noise and a bit less trajectory, but it's sooooo easy to draw it isn't funny. I need to chrono it, but I'm confident it will be putting out around 60'#s of ke, probably still plenty to use the 1.5" cut rockets. Probably just not as deep into the dirt :)

Don't hesitate a second about using a 60 lb. bow. Back in the 70's and 80's I shot 60 lbs. using fingers and had many complete passthroughs on these Illinois deer.....bucks and does. At the time I was shooting Satellites and Rocky Mountain Razors at 125 grains..........no problem.
