I don't put any oil on mine. I simply clean it every now and then.

If your bow has bushings for the cams and wheel they should be self lubricating and oil will only gunk up with dirt and dust. If your bow has bearings they are perminantly selaled and internally lubricated so oil can't get isnide any way and will only gunk up on the outside of your bearings.

If you just have to libricate the axle use either a dry teflon lubricant or graphite powder.

you can use gun oil

but.......

Hoppes bow oil is odorless.
and It only takes a drop on the axle at the bushings on both sides.
avoid any type of oil on the string because this will cause serious serving seperation.

what is more inportant as far as lubrication is keeping the string waxed thouroughly what I mean by thurrough is pressing the bow so you can get the wax in between the strands of the string
doing this will pro long the life of the string.

Lik big bulls said bushings dont need a ny lubrication but dont hurt a drop or two every now and then

In situations where lubrication is needed I either go the teflon or graphite route...normally the teflon. The shop sells small bottles of the stuff in the bow maintenance section.

I use just pure white lubricating grease like you get for chainsaws. That stuff is great and it doesn't have a bit of smell.

I'm using remoil I think it's called. I spray the axels when I have my bow tore down (which has been quite often lately). It is a teflon based aerosol from Remington for their semiauto chambers. Doesn't attract grime and from my findings, it works fantastic.

I do like using something on bushings. I think they are oillite bushings which is a material that absorbs oil, so it does have self lubing qualities.

I agree with Bigpapascout about taking tension off of the string to get a good waxing. I've heard it called shampooing. Release the tension and wipe off the excess.

The only place we use any type of petroleum-based lubricant is on the rocker posts, and that is a lithium grease.

ANY type of oil/grease anywhere else in the open attracts grit and grime, and actually helps increase wear on components.

We use Hoppes' Dri-lube, which is a quick-drying teflon-based lubricant. Any quick-dry teflon or similar lubricant will work. Good shooting, Pinwheel 12
