replace my bowstring?

well, long story short, i was replacing my silencers on my bowstring and i accidentally cut a strand. (it was one of those "DOH!" homer simpson moments. [&:]) its not an entire strand, but the string is definately frayed pretty good. the string is practically new, only a couple of months old. should i replace the string? man, i hate to plunk down the money on ANOTHER string...any opinions?

thanks for the help!

I wouldn't worry about cutting one strand. Two or more strands cut, then I'd definitely say change it. Most strings, factory strings anyway, are overbuilt with more strands than they need. There shouldn't be a safety issue.

The only real potential problem I can see is maybe the string's length will not stabilize, which will cause you constant headaches with having to retune and/or reset your peep rotation every time you shoot. If that happens, then you know the string is pulling apart and you need to get rid of it.

since a bowstring is just one long string looped around and around, it can come undone now. All that is holding it from unraveling is the servings. I'd replace it.

Replace it!!! You don't want to become one of those people who can say they had a bow blow up on them in their hands. When it comes to strings I don't take any chances at all.

I think Bob in NH said it best. you will get a few shots out of it before replacing it but I would replace it soon.
I will say that the bow will not blow up on you but it will be more likely to stretch because the continous loop has been severed.
