Too heavy of an arrow?
 

I shoot a PSE Nova at 55lbs, 27.5 inch draw. I won some Easton C2 340 carbon arrows and had them cut to fit my bow set up. I looked online at Cabelas and they had a chart for this arrow telling which weight arrow they would recommend. The link is listed below. I really like the arrows and they shoot straight. Do you think it will weigh down my shot too much to shoot whitetails with these arrows? Will the deer jump the string since the arrows will be slowed down? There is only a difference of 25 grains between the size they recomend and the size I have. What do you guys think? Will I be ok?

How long is your arrow? You would be overspined not too heavy.

My arrow is 28 inches. What does it mean to be overspined and does it matter if the arrow is flying straight?

Your arrow is way overspined. At 28" you should be pulling 76-82 lbs for that arrow. I'm not too sure what overspined arrows do, but I know they don't fly straight. Also with being overspined like that your arrows won't fly straight enough to deer hunt. You should go to size 400.

if you are usindg a loop and a release and your bow is tuned right
you can shoot a stiffer arrow than what the charts recommend

if you are shooting with your fingers you need a weaker spined arrow to overcome the archers paradox

people try to tell me that I shoot overspined arrows yet my arrows fly strait and true.

I say if the arrows are working good for you then keep using them.

If your center shot and nock point are set well for the correct arrow spine, a very stiff arrow can be shot well with fixed blade broadheads. You should try them and see for yourself before trading them in.

As everyone has mentioned it would appear that your choice of arrows is too stiff for your setup...going by the charts that is. The proof is in the pudding though. If you are getting good, consistant and accurate arrow flight out of your current setup then do not get all flustered by what a chart says you should be shooting. Think of the charts as good starting points....nothing more.

If they fly straight use them for sure. Also a 340 carbon arrow from easton is not too heavy in weight for your bow. They are still lighter than most aluminum arrows you would shoot from your bow. I just weighed my easton epic 340 with a 100gr head and they weigh 409 grains.
