I found the arrows I want
I am going to buy the Gold Tip Hunter XT. The problem is I don't know which size to get. I have a 26.5 draw and I will shoot 55 lbs.
The 3555 arrows will have a foc of 10.36% and will weigh 332.1 grains at 26.5" long. They are rated for 35/55# draw weights. The 5755 arrows will have a foc of 9.71% and will weigh 353.3 grains at 26.5" long. They are rated for 55/75# draw weights. I will shoot a 100 grain head with 4 inch vanes. All of my shots will be 20 yards and under. Thanks |
RE: I found the arrows I want
I was once in your situation as well. I found the lighter spined arrows are a bi**h to tune broadheads with.

RE: I found the arrows I want
I would go with the 35/55s. At your poundage and with a short 26.5" arrow they should be fine with vanes and 100 grain point unless you are shooting a very hard cam.:)

RE: I found the arrows I want
go with the 55-75 this way you wont have under spine issues to deal with
cant go wrong with a good stiff shaft. that sounds like one of those SPAM viagra Emails :D |
RE: I found the arrows I want
I tend to agree with Jeff B on this one.Your draw length and power stroke should allow you to shoot the lighter spine with no problems.

RE: I found the arrows I want
3555 in timber or black semms reasonable above the I.B.O. spec of 5 grains per pound....

RE: I found the arrows I want
Slightly overspined is'nt bad but with the short shafts you are shooting , I agree with Jeff . Being overspined can allmost be as bad as being underspined , not quiet but it does make for an unforgiveing setup .

RE: I found the arrows I want
What happens if I decide to put up to 58 lbs. Should I just stick with 55?
|
RE: I found the arrows I want
Zack you are just going to get stronger and up the weight. You might have to buy new arrows soon if you get the light ones. I have a question for everybody else though. I am slightly overspined as well but I'm shooting bullet holes when I paper tuned. Does this mean there fine if I can shoot bullet holes? How would they be unforgiving?

RE: I found the arrows I want
Zack, I am in the same boat kinda, 28" 56lbs. I will leave my bow set low ala Nugent theory.
Be careful going too light, as you may want more K energy from a larger arrow. Also too light and you may break the 6 gp pound rule for what its worth. The size you have above (if including tip) is like 6.03. Sneak that bow up to 55 1/2 lbs and you are under 6gpp. I am thinking of Carbon express terminators 45-60 what ever that is, or the Cabelas ones..45/60's Don't get stuck on one brand if its not for you, |
