Refletching ?????????
 

I am fletching up my first batch of arrows using the Arizona EZ Fletch. A few questions:

1. Does it matter of the glue oozes onto each side of the vanes?
2. How long should I let them sit in the jig before I remove them?
3. Is this particular jig harder for fletching feathers?

Thanks for any info. Any other tricks of the trade would be appreciated! I bought the jig second hand with no directions.

Dawg your glue should set up pretty fast check
it with a pin then rotate as soon as you can,I use
a JOJANN so do six at a time,good luck!![8D]

If glue oozes out of the sides then your using too much. You only need a thin bead to get them to stick. I have a Jo Jan and usually leave them in there for 10-15 minutes before moving onto the next fletching

Yes, at least mine was. the vanes fit it in easily but the feathers took more work to load them..

I got a greyling fletcher, like a blitz, but made with composite material. It is easier to do feathers with this type of jig.

I wait 30 minutes to rotate my arrows. Glue should come out of both sides of the vanes/feathers, but not very much

The Arizona EZ Fletch did not work well for me. You have to apply just exactly the right amount of glue to all three vanes before the glue on the first vane begins to set up.

I ended up getting too much squeeze-out and the clean up was a mess.

The best way for me was to glue one vane at a time which defeats the purpose of the EZ Fletch.

Also, it is sometimes difficult to get the vanes glued at precise 120 degree angles. One vane at a time or three at a time, often one vane was off enough to notice it.

A bitz is on my father's day list.

Arizona also has a model similar to a bitz that I saw an Lancaster a few weeks ago. Very inexpensive, less than $20. If price is a factor, you might try that one. I did not get it since it won't do helicals.

I use a Bitzenberger jig and I run a continuous bead down the entire fletch so that just a little bit may ooze from each side of the fletch after it has been set. I am fletching a batch right now and let them set 45 minutes before rotating cause its still cool here but in a warmer climate you can get by with 30 minute intervals, but don't rush it when in doubt, take your time. ;) Bobby

I like my EZ fletch.I have used it for a couple of years now and like anything else there is a little learning curve.Feathers are a bit harder to work with but it will do them just fine.As for the glue I just try and cover the base of the vane with no globs which seems to work OK.I generally leave them in the jig for 5-10 minutes and let them sit overnight before I use them.I also use the aluminum model for my carbons without problems.Ron

I agree, after a little practice, I find that it works just fine, I also use the aluminum model to fletch all of my arrows. I use a super glue that has a brush applicator and had the best sucess with this method, as it is hard to apply to much glue.

I have an AAE easy fletch

Makes a GREAT paper weight!:D
