New Sims cable dampener?
I am getting a new bow and I have been researching the accessories I want/need for it. I was looking at the sims products and I noticed they developed a new cable dampener. This looks very heavy. Does this work well? Is it worthe the extra weight? Also I have the old dampeners on my current bow and I was wondering if anybody noticed any difference when they put theres on. Thanks-Sam
P.S. any reviews on the stablizer enhancer? |
RE: New Sims cable dampener?
I'm a big fan of the Sims stuff. Here is a picture of my setup:
![]() As you can see, I use one of the old one's on the end. I also use the stabilizer enhancers. One in the rear mounting hole, and one on the end of my steath. ![]() For me, the weight was not an issue. I like a heavier bow! |
RE: New Sims cable dampener?
They are not very heavy. In fact, what looks to be a heavy metal ring surrounding the Navcom material is actually extremely thin and more for looks than anything else in my opinion. It is not of equivalent weight in comparison to the Enhancer 2000 or NV system even though it may look very similar.
It does provide a noticeable different though on most of the bows I have used one on. |
RE: New Sims cable dampener?
I doubt it weighs much more than an ounce, and it works very well. It's worth putting on any bow that has a cable guard.

RE: New Sims cable dampener?
I use the originals on a couple of my bows. I think on alum/steel rods they work a bit better than carbon.
I think overall they don't provide much benefit on a bow that has a small amount of cable slide travel. On bows with more travel they seem to work better (even if they are not set-up to stop the slide). I haven't seen the new one yet. I think I'd be a bit leery of spending the extra $ on something with so small of an effect (if any). But if ya got the dough, go for it! :) |
RE: New Sims cable dampener?
They are not heavy at all, i agree with jeff , they probably work better on metal cable rods. Carbon guards usually soak up vibration well.
