OUTBACK #'s

How can the OUTBACK be only 2 fps.slower than the LX.The bow gives up an inch of power stroke. That should be around a 7 to 10 fps.differance.[>:]

If I remember correctly, the Outback is rated 308 IBO and the LX is 315.

The speeds posted are IBO @ 5 grains /lb. AMO speeds @ 80% letoff for the LX is 238, Outback 236. thus the 2fps difference.

RE: OUTBACK #'s

Thanks Bowshopper,,thats what I was talking about. As far as the IBO speed differance,,well that seems about right. Now,how do you get that kind of an IBO diff.with such a small AMO gap ??.

Droptines, I would guess that the cam looses its efficiency with heavier arrows. I bought the Outback over the LX for the larger Brace height. It is one sweet shooting bow. When I get it I will run some arrows through the radar gun and compare it to my Bowtech Mighty Mite.

Anyone have any upper limb breakage? My buddy has one that broke.
Bow was justa week old.[:@]

Well I'll throw this in there too !!!

My LX hit 299-300 fps set at 69 # and rigged for hunting with a 350 grain arrow !

My Outback set up with all the accessories off of my LX and the same arrows hit 297-298 fps on 69 # !! And it is quieter and much more "dead" on the shot !

Both bows were in spec. and cam timing was perfect ! It was an easy decision !! ;)

CBN SC,
Whats your draw? What arrows are you shooting, How long are they? I shoot 70# GT 5575 3d pro's at 29" and 29.5 draw and they weight 397 grains w/ 100gr tip. Thats the lightest I can go without being to underspined. Anyone have a way I can get a lighter arrow and not affect the spine or FOC too bad? By the way, I shot a Legacy and can only get 280fps out of it. I was thinking of getting the LX but if I can get practaly the same speed out of an Outback w/ a longer Brace height, then thats the way I'll go. any advice guys?

I shoot a 30" draw with a WB rest , string loop, and a Tru-peep super hunter !

I got those speeds shooting a 28" PSE CF Dominator 300 with feathers and 100 grain tips.....weight ranged from 349 grains to 353 grains !

However........I switched recently to Axis 340's , with vanes, and 125 grain tips........the total arow weight is 450 grains and the bow is a good bit quieter ..........and I have seen very little difference in trajectory ! I did up my poundage to 75 lbs and getting 282 fps out of the Axis !

Put a new B2 biscuit on.......but haven't chrono'd it yet ! Also ordered WC strings and cables.......so I'll try to chrono it after I put those on !!

Virginia Hunter,
I would say to buy the one you enjoy shooting the most. Personally,I like the extra inch of Brace height the Outback has for hunting with winter clothing.

RE: OUTBACK #'s

Hey CBM SC,
How are getting 75 lbs.out of your OUTBACK ???.Did you twist the hell out of your cable and string,or just set the cam ti over-rotate ???.With the LX I had,,I had to do ALOT of twisting just to get 70 to 71,,and keep the cam in time.[:-]

CBM SC 05-19-2004 05:14 AM

RE: OUTBACK #'s

Droptines..........Mine came in at 75 # and my LX came in at 74 # !! I have no idea why.......except the pre-load on the limbs from the roller gaurd system ! I could get 76-77 # easy out of the Outback with some cable twisting !!

Droptines 05-19-2004 07:38 PM

RE: OUTBACK #'s

OK,,,but,,have you checked the position of your cam ??.I'm thinking your over rotating ALOT ???.With all those extra twist thrown in, are your other measurements still on,{A to A,and BH} ????

RE: OUTBACK #'s

Droptines.......I have had Mathews bows for 8 years ! I know what the timing is supposed to be like and these bows were dead on .......including the ata and brace height spec's when I left the shop !

If you are referring to my other post..........I just put the WC strings on "myself" and my cam is slightly over rotated ......only about 1/16" ! And I haven't even done a pull on it yet to verify the poundage !

Every Outback or LX I have looked at ........pulls over 70 # !! A guy on my mule deer hunt last year had two LX's .........one pulling 75 # and the other maxed at 73# ! Just about everyone else I have seen on here with one "maxed" out hits over 70 # !!

Not sure why yours doesn't ..........but I would not be shooting with my cam "ALOT" over rotated !!
