Turbo nock Hunter
Anyone seen the new turbo nock hunters? How do these work and are they any good?
Thanks, WK |
RE: Turbo nock Hunter
BobCo19-65 sent me 3 to test out but just have not had the time yet.
I have a dozen of the target ones and used them with pretty good success w/ field points. There is another company, Starrflight, that makes a slip on plastic airfoil type fletching that is going to get tested alongside the Turbo nocks when I get a chance. I wanted to do the testing w/ Len at his shop. Hopefully soon. One thing for sure, you will have to use a good drop/fall away rest or a whisker biscuit. |

[:'(] SCBowhunter i tried the turbo nocs, worked okay for target make sure you use a fall-away rest. Made way to much noise for hunting :)Bulldog1

RE: Turbo nock Hunter
I tried them on my bow..... with my GKF Infiniti Dropaway..... with my rest prongs having to be so close to my riser they dont work at all for me... they are to high profile for my setup... the wings hit my riser and busted one right off and sent my arrow flying off into neverland[:'(]

RE: Turbo nock Hunter
I used the Starrflight FOBs recently, but haven't used the turbo nocks. From my position as a shooter, the starrflight's FOBs sounded way too loud to hunt with even though they stabilized the arrow better than any fletching I have ever used. However, I had a friend stand about 2 yards away from my target while I shot 30 yd shots with the FOBs and with standard vanes and he couldn't tell the difference. Both were equally as quiet. After I shot them with my blades and watched them hit dangerously close to where my field points were hitting I was sold. Just like the turbo nocks you do have to use a fall away and it needs to get out of the way quickly.

RE: Turbo nock Hunter
I dropped off the FOB's and the Turbo Nocks to Len in MD last week.
He is very busy with his new 'Micro-adjust" project for the Muzzy ZE rest, but I am hoping he has the time to get to the testing soon. :) I also recieved an e-mail from Nick Snook (inventor of Turbo Nocks) and he told me that he will have the Turbo hunters available in white in the next 10 days.:D They are also made of a new plastic. Supposed to be more durable. |

mlaubner,
I shoot a whisker biscuit...any clearance issues here? I noticed everyone was saying to use a drop away rest... |
RE: Turbo nock Hunter
ORIGINAL: SCbowhntr mlaubner, I shoot a whisker biscuit...any clearance issues here? I noticed everyone was saying to use a drop away rest... I use the Muzzy ZE and have NO clearance problems with the Hunters or the FOB's. I also must be going deaf, because I see no appreciable gain in noise when I shoot these things over 4" vanes and to my ears seem quieter that feathers...but that' just me. |
RE: Turbo nock Hunter
I believe that to shoot the turbo nocks with the whisker biscuit, you must use a string loop. I tried them with a Drop Tine biscuit, and the bottom fin of the turbo nock hit the bracket that the biscuit fits into on the bottom. I was trying them without a string loop, however. I would also suspect that since you do have one fin that is essentially straight down, you would get better clearance with the Deluxe biscuit, rather than the standard or drop tine. I basically tried them because a bow I bought used had arrows with it that were too short for me to use. With the Turbos, I could shoot them for length.
